Sounds like it would just be a pain in general. No other class requires consumables to apply their debuffs.

No thanks. They did this in 1.0, and while it was good money for me, I ended up being a slave to making arrows constantly for everyone in my ls.![]()

I played Bard as main through most of 1.0 and the consumable arrows was one of my least favourite aspects of the game.
I do not want consumable arrows to return
I do not want 3-4 slots of my inventory filled with stacks of arrows
I do not want 3-6 slots of my inventory filled with stacks of Ingots, Branches and Feathers so I can craft more when I run out
I do not want to have to pay exorbitant prices for the arrow making items or arrows
I do not want to have to spend all my non-raiding time farming mats for making arrows
I do not want my stats and damage based on the quality of a consumable
I do not want to have to spend ages per synth to try and get HQ arrows to maximise damage for high end content
I do not want my skills and dots to rely on the type of arrow
I do not want to have to have 10 macros to equip each type of arrow before using skills
I do not want to have to stop mid fight and access my character screen to requip a fresh stack when the old run runs out
I do not want to have to not play my main class when farming dungeons for Philosophy so I don’t waste the gil/time spent on making arrows
We already have several dots (Poison, Wind, Fire) and debuffs (Damage Down, Silence, Bind) as skills. We don’t need arrows to do this for us. I could point out a dozen things about other classes that are far from realistic. I’ll keep using my invisible arrows, thank you very much.
If you want a fancy quiver with exchangable arrow heads, the thrill of running out of arrows mid fight and the labour of scavenging arrows after a battle, go watch the Avengers. Hawkeye does a good job of that.

ummm....
Just a reminder: in 1.0, we have skill ability to quickly re-equip our arrows without accessing our item/gear menu 1st, and it's a low level skill too . Of course... if you carry several type of arrows, that would be different matters since that ability re-equip random arrows you have in your possession.
btw, I think Green Arrow much cooler than Hawkeye. XD

Psssh my XI Ranger and old school WoW Hunter made Hawkeye look like a joke. Used to have to carry more ammo and types than he could ever imagine. That being said, I am glad I don't have to relive those moments anymore.I played Bard as main through most of 1.0 and the consumable arrows was one of my least favourite aspects of the game.

You should have bought an authenticator.....
Your tears feed me....
I'd much rather see them add quivers for our ranged slot. They could enhance abilities in some way, add additional effects or just simply add stats. (Current game, "stats" would be the easiest to add).
- Basic ones (like all other gear) could be crafted. Yay economy!
- Better ones could come from dungeons or raids.
- They would be an equipable, non-consumable item, meaning you get it once and keep it. Or turn it into that spiffy fire materia IV you've always wanted.
- They would go into your offhand armory chest, making inventory management a non issue (With all classes 50 you barely half fill it).
Yessss!!! I agree, and have them add visual effects (not present on every quiever). Such as fire/thunder/ice/poison infused arrows (missing earth maybe, but wouldn't make much sense :P unless they are dirty arrrows!). And have them either do additional elmental damage (affected by resistances) or just sheer visual effects.I'd much rather see them add quivers for our ranged slot. I don't think you can see arrows, it would be nice if you could (haven't played close attention) but if there are they are not obvious enough :P
And on the ammo topic, I think it's a nice addition. I love ammo system as well, but I agree it has to be balanced enough (so it's not significant in price, either by making few mats make many arrows, easy to craft, no HQ available as it would make it unbalanced having fluctuating dmg depending on the quality of your ammo). But yeah, I believe if implemented right it doesn't have to have a negative impact.

Wouldn't you want all that if it meant that you guys got to keep your dps potential untouched? Bards are getting nerfed because it is too easy to get high dps numbers, but Ranger was the same in FFXI. That is because SE's thinking was that if you are going to spend money to put out damage, you deserve higher numbers. As it is now, Bard's damage should at least be lower than melee and in reality it should probably the lowest DD class.I played Bard as main through most of 1.0 and the consumable arrows was one of my least favourite aspects of the game.

except any similar geared class can put out similar if not higher numbers, bard isn't some magic easy damage class like summoner or dragoon. the problem lies in how too many fights rely on moving out of AOE as their primary mechanic. with more fights like garuda or ADS around, and less like titan, the less of a problem bard becomes.Wouldn't you want all that if it meant that you guys got to keep your dps potential untouched? however, on topic, this thread's idea is the worst idea possible. consumables make ridiculous balance issues, no class should have to pay gil to play it properly, nor should it get bonuses for paying gil to upgrade it.
