No, they used it for stabbing since slashing attacks against heavy armor was not good. Slashing worked wonders against the regular tropes though.
As for blunt damage, that was why some used mace, flails and other blunt weapons.
I think this is the worst idea I've ever read.
To the people saying non-consumable arrows hurts "realism". Try thinking about the difference between "Player Knowledge" and "Character Knowledge"
Player Knowledge is that arrows are non-consumable for reasons of game mechanics and "quality of life"
Character Knowledge is that you are an adventurer who specializes in ranged combat, you don't have a "magic quiver" you instead had the presence if mind to bring enough arrows with you because you're NOT an idiot!
Huzzah! Realism restored!
