    Chocobo - duo (ideas?)

Thoughts on best chocobo combination for duo-playing? I pretty much only play the game with my GF, and most of the time we're playing just the 2 of us.

What would be the best combination of 2 chocobos? In this case we're playing Archer & Thaumaturge (Bard/BLM)

Was simply thinking; one tank chocobo and one healing chocobo, seeing as we're both dps. Though i'm afraid that the tank wouldn't be able to hold aggro, or am i wrong? Knowing that we cannot respec our chocobos i would like to hear some other ideas before we do anything stupid.

"Endgame" we've always liked to do our own "solomissions" for fun, which will be the goal of our use of chocobos. So keep this in mind (not max lvl yet though, being casual and all..)

Unfortunately Chocobos have poor mitigation and low HP (even with +20% HP from stacked traits) and are very poor at holding aggro.
But they are reasonably decent in terms of Healing (~380 per Cure at Rank 4 at level 50, plus high-uptime Regen) and they can contribute noticeable damage (considerably more than your average Tank).

The most efficient Chocobo setup is currently a Hybrid Healer/DD - Take Healing Stance to Rank 4 (for Cure) or 7 (for the +Healing Buff), then throw the rest of the points into Attacker and/or Defender Stance.
The only move to watch is the Rank 7 Attacker Stun due to Diminishing returns, but as a ARC and THM that shouldn't matter too much.

Currently you can't bring Chocobos into Duty Finder missions (or even queue with them out - though this is to be fixed via a patch sooner rather than later!) so they see little use at endgame for things other than farming crafting materials. It's quite fun to Solo FATE Bosses with them healing you though.

Take a look here and here for some more information.

In all honesty, as two Damage Dealers you're going to have quite a hard time at endgame playing as a duo - they're certainly not bad classes, but you'll likely need to befriend a Healer and a Tank to get most stuff done. A Tank and a SCH would probably be the duo I'd most recommend - SCHs can deal reasonable damage whilst healing and together you could pretty much "carry" any duty-finder party with just the two of you.... Alternatively if you want to go down the pet route and stay as DD'ers, two Summoners (or even a Summoner and a BRD) could probably Duo most content in the game, but would be harder pressed to fit into "traditional" party setups (and as DPS would get much longer Duty finder queue times!)

This is probably one of the best/THE best forum answer i've gotten in my whole lifetime being almost 30 years old. Thank you! I wish the world would have more people like you

Seriously though: I'd just rather not see anyone get to endgame and then discover that all they had to look forward to was 2 hours of queueing for a duty finder run as a DPS class and they couldn't even have their loyal Chocobo summoned whilst they were waiting!!

The chocobos are fun, but they're really only currently useful whenever you're running about in the open world maps. Once you start looking halfway seriously at endgame content (dungeons and raids) and gear progression then you really need to consider your potential role in a 4 or 8-man party rather than a duo.

Don't worry too much though. It's much easier to level a second class/job to 50 once you already have your first job at 50, assuming that you don't mind doing a lot of LEVEs and/or FATEs. And you can always join one of the more relaxed Free Companies if you find yourselves getting bored waiting for queues

    It's a game.
As long as you're having fun it's all good!
