What? Never spent real life money on socketing in Aion and for people to rage over that, they need mental help lol. And it decreases by one when enchanting and like I said previously didn't have that much of a problem with socketing. But how the enchanting/socketing would improve your stats is/was nice. Here you just get a weapon...with boring stats and then that's it. /Yawn

Materia is a broken system right now. The only uses there are for it are for your crafting/gathering classes and for socketing weapons to get your relic. While you can do more than that with it, it's a waste of your time to do so. And let's not forget that there's no point in socketing anything before you're 50. Because you level up so quickly and gear is so easy to come by, why waste any effort on the pre-50 gear? Sure you can craft ilvl 70 gear and socket that for your fighting classes but you can also just grab darklight or run ilvl60 gear until you get ilvl90 gear. The crafted ilvl70 stuff will become even more useless with the implementation of Crystal Tower. So yay, Materia! They may as well just remove it all together, the way it is right now.

For those shouting about the the uselessness of the system because you do not need or the benefit isn't game breaking I would like to point out that is by design. It is not meant to stunt growth or stop a persons ability to proceed it is meant to maximize your minimums. They cap all the primary stats for you on ilvl appropriate gear for balancing to make it easy to know where the average player will be and to adjust accordingly.

If you have a meld gear is the best and required people would be forced to stop and get materia gear and in turn make dungeon drops useless. So what comes down to is a extra feat, for the more hardcore to get just to be a bit better. The issue comes with having that system along with "rewards" for dungeon equipment you can't make that meaningless if it is easier to just buy something better which makes a development decision we are coming to with stagnation of crafting which stagnates materia use giving players of the must be rewarding ideal a reason.

Then can you at least display the information on stat caps in item descriptions so it's easier to discern? Nothing's worse than preparing some high-end materia and catalyst and finding out you can't even make any use of it.

I think it would be cool if they allowed the ability to add effects to weapons. Something along the lines of being able to say give a sword fire attributes which gives it a fire bonus. I think that could be cool and give more reason to craft weapons and give abit more customization.

Please. Manastone in aion was crit until 440 for pve, 800 for pvp then socket attack. Magic boost/accuracy for caster and magic boost/magic resist/block for cleric

Also there's no magic secret to improve enchanting/socketing other than spending a fortune in the cash shop or millions in game money to increase the chance by a few %. If you didn't have any trouble doing any of that at high lvl(i still call bullshit) you are insanely lucky and you're the first person i've ever heard who like Aion's socketing/enchanting system. The forum was and probably is still flooded with people complaining about this crap

What about materia that add elemental effects or auras and materia that enhance skills like in diablo 3 where instead of a Black Mage Using Fire and only throwing one ball the black mage does a rapid fire of 3 balls, it does the same damage it just looks and acts different or a White Mages Medica with a special materia Medica will have the ability to be casted on a selected party member instead of the WHM or it causes an AOE puddle of pure glowing water under the WHM that other party members can run on top of to get a "healing over time" effect while in the puddle.
