Seems because of the fail and hard critique FFXIV received from 2010, SE lost faith in their creative department and started listening to players from other MMOs and started outsourcing.
Isn't it like that everywhere now? Nothing new or original, just recycled ideas...
Solution for change:
Make expansions DLC and part of major updates w/o paying for them(mostly because of the PlayStation 4 Pluz Membership).
Why PAY??
MMO expansions are over-rated, stacking the cost of subscription and now having access to online play with the PS4(and soon the lolXboxOne).
Don't we deserve discounts for the very least? We all could use a TAX-cut.
Remember, Your ISP wants your money...
You electric company wants your money...
Sony wants your money...
SE wants your money...
I want your moneyz,
plz gimmi gimmi gimmi (though I don't think I've earned it enough) ;P

Hasn't it been stated more than once that a PSN+ service won't be required for this game on PS4?
Hasn't it been stated more than once there are no plans to bring this game to the XBOne due to issues with Microsoft?
Personally I have no problem paying for an expansion. A full storyline, massive expansion of the world, and all the other bonuses that can be expected from an expansion are certainly worth an additional one time fee of $30-40.
I would also expect expansions as DLC only to be an option (possibly $30 for DLC only and $40 if you want the "boxed" version?).
C'mon PSxpert, I've seen you act the fool all over the FFXI forums. I know you're capable of doing better work than this. If you're going to complain about something at least complain about things that are accurate instead of spreading mis-information.
