I don't think it's so much WoW hating as much as "Don't make a game like WoW if people want to play that they will just play WoW"
anyone that's been playing MMO's since everquest and ultima online and lineage and the like would be able to see how astonishingly WoWlike they made it

100% agree with OP!
which is funny considering how astonishingly EQlike they made WOW, so you were saying?I don't think it's so much WoW hating as much as "Don't make a game like WoW if people want to play that they will just play WoW"

That might have something to do with some EQ developers being on the original WoW content team. Some very outspoken and important people in their field at the time, the best in the biz like Kaplan (Tigole)
I'd like the first expansion to only add jobs. Currently, the only class that gives two different game play styles is the Arcanist. They need to add 7 more souls so the rest of the classes have two different play styles as well.
Lancer = Knight (Lance and shield Tank)
Marauder = Berserker (Melee DPS who dual wields axes)
Pugilist = Dancer (Healer)
Archer = Thief (Melee DPS who dual wields daggers)
Gladiator = Dark Knight (Melee DPS who wields large two handed swords)
Conjurer = Geomancer or even Necromancer (Necromancer could have undead pets)
Thaumaturge = Red Mage (Melee DPS that uses one handed swords and both black and white magic)
This would give each class two very different play styles to choose from once they hit level 30. Or, if the new expansion adds 10 additional levels, these could be hero souls that you only get at level 40 or 45.

this would not work since the class is defined by the weapon equipped.I'd like the first expansion to only add jobs. Currently, the only class that gives two different game play styles is the Arcanist. They need to add 7 more souls so the rest of the classes have two different play styles as well.

All they would have to do is make it to where the "special" job weapons auto equip when the new soul is equipped and vice versa. If the weapons aren't in the inventory, then you get the same type error message you get when trying to use one of your registered equipment setups.
