Configuration file location

Alright, i'm highly annoyed at the moment so if I come off as a jerk, i'm sorry, but I feel this is something that should either be stored with my character on your servers or at least in an easily accessible area so I can BACK THEM UP.

I have a hard drive failure tonight.... that's fine, just had my OS on it, i'll rebuild on a new drive, whatever.... well I did that.... and actually kudos to your guys for making a launcher that didn't actually blindly removed all the current and up to date files in the install directory I pointed it to, I was able to get right in... but then my pain began, but I wont elaborate on that anymore than FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST PLEASE ADD A SKIP BUTTON TO THE 'REQUIRED' INTRO MOVIE FOR A FRESH INSTALL OF THE GAME!!!!

I logged in and found NONE of my configuration still existed, macros: all gone, interface layout: all defaulted, key bindings: all defaults. Now the fact that the game launched fine from all the files stored still existing in the game install directory without any further install or download required tells me the configurations obviously aren't stored in the games installation directory, I make the wild assumption that my character configuration files are actually stored under my profile for my windows installation, but I don't see anything in the little looking i've done.... please help me out here, tell me where my configuration files for my individual character are located so I can back them up and avoid this from happening EVER AGAIN.

Actually ya know what, I think I may have found them.
In Window 7 under Libraries > Documents > My Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV - A Realm Reborn > FFXIV_CHR(some string of random numbers) there are a bunch of DAT files with pretty apparent names... you seriously couldn't be bothered to store another meg (if even) of data WITH the character on the servers??

anyway I guess I've answered my own question. close this post or whatever.
