Last topic: Can't trade damaged gear.

So, my girlfriend and I play together. I got a new chest armor, but want to give her my old one because it's a significant upgrade to her. The gear is at 96% condition, and I can't give it to her. What gives? I'm not trying to sell it or con her. She knows the gear is 96% condition. Why can't I just -give- her the item? All it takes to repair is a cotton fent, but people want lots of money to do it and I'm new to the game.

This is really disheartening that we can't simply help each other despite being right next to each other.

Nope. Gear has to be 100% in order to pass it to another player, regardless if you trade or sell.

If it's low level gear and just takes cotton fent to repair, then you can get it repaired for just a couple thousand gil. (I assume you can't repair it yourself.) Just put it up for repairs in your bazaar, and then go stand near a repair NPC in any city (although Uldah tends to have the most people). The more you offer, the more quickly it will probably be repaired. But I'd suggest offering 2,000 gil to get it repaired eventually, and 4,000-5,000 gil to get it repaired very quickly.

Or you can go to the weaver's guild in Uldah and just ask the folks who are there to help you out.
