So you expect us to play the game at a snail's pace when we have already been doing that for the 2-3 years that the game has actually been out?
Most people that do actually have issues are 1.0 players. For a new player? Sure I guess there is quite a bit of early-mid game content to do such as levelling sub classes... However for those of us that have done that over the course of 2-3 years in 1.0 have nothing to do but cap myth and finish coil. (A cumulative total of 2-3 hours per week).
It's not hard to have nothing to do when only a minor amount of "actual end game" (sorry EXPing classes is not endgame), when the game has been running for 2-3 years..
A Realm Reborn has been out for 3 months, FFXIV 1.0 been out for 2.5 yearsish ( then got shut down).
I know some people like to think FFXIV ARR is an expansion of sorts. But where exactly has the game been expanded? Personally it's a new game, and I am treating it as such.
Edit: Here's why in ARR's 2 years in Development we only have little endgame:
1) Had to re-code the whole game for PC/PS3/PS4
2) Remade all Maps
3) New dungeons/Music/Main Story/Voice acting/FATEs/
4) Brand New Servers, in which compared to 1.0 is vastly improved
5) They removed Hamlets/Chocobo Caravan
Plenty of reasons why New Game or not, the game is lacking endgame and some other things.
Which is why I made a new character, because I knew this would happen. Personally, I feel they should have wiped our characters. Can't complain in which something already happened @.@.

This thread is just asking people to rehave an argument that they have had a hundred times before. I'll pass.
The argument people make is based on character progress/nothing to do because they have finished everything.
While systems and battle mechanics have changed, and basically yes - the whole game... Character data has been carried over.
ie. Players have been progressing their character for 3 years.
There is nothing to do for many of us, because our characters are 2.5 years ahead of the "new" game's life.
Call it new all you like, others will call it 3 years old.
Point is - progression wise, players have been playing for 3 years.
Does sound like a lot when you list it like that but most of that stuff can be done in less than a week and you end up just doing speed zerg runs through wp over and over again.
The OP says he has a lot left to do, and plays every day. and thats cool in your book, But if someone plays every day (or not!) and actually accomplishes something by clearing content, they poop in socks and live in their grandmas basement and whatever other 1990's Gamer stereotype you can muster?
Do you understand how it makes you sound bigoted?
Psychologically i understand why you feel the need to criticize people who are (or perceived to be) better off than you, is basically just because you're human, but there is a point where you just should... stop posting it. Cause in the end it makes you look like a terrible person despite that fact others may feel the same way, regardless of how true it is, since it makes us feel better about our lack of accomplishments or efficiency or so forth.
Don't feel bad about it, but try not to let it get to you?
Or not, maybe you like the idea of being "that guy" everyone tries to avoid because they spend 95% of social gatherings cursing at others for playing better then them, blaming it on having a life and how they must live and breathe this game in their ergonomically designed poopchairs downing mountain dew like a boss. Whatever floats yer boat I'm just trying to help![]()

It is obvious that it takes a long time to reboot a game from scratch, and they did a decent job for the time that they had to do it - however to put it bluntly the game should have been pushed back if end game wasn't ready.
As I mentioned, this is a special snowflake because at launch, the game is already flooded with 400k (or so?) players that have been playing for 2.5 years.. In this instance, I feel that too much attention was paid to early-mid game, and they did not put enough focus on end game for these players.
I mean guildhest.. You do them once, per character, 14 times, and never touch them again.. They could have spent the time and money it took to create these instanced fights in pushing out more EG content at release..
That is just one example, but there are many cases where you just fly through the levels without even noticing the wasted effort.
There are 12 EXP dungeons! 12!! While leveling my alt character it took me over 2 hours to find a tank for an EXP dungeon, simply because no one bothered doing them anymore... With the existance of FATE, barely anyone actually use these to even EXP in - and only do them for the sake of the story..
There are what...2x lv50 story dungeons, and 2x lv50 farming dungeons.. There used to even be a 20 min que time for AK with a full party, because the dungeon was so crowded. Yet an EXP dungeon couldn't even find me a tank for 2 hrs? There is certainly an obvious imbalance here.
Are you starting to see the problem here?
The issue isn't only in the fact that on release, they are already 2.5 years behind some players, but the fact that a huge portion of the content that they took time and effort into creating over the years in development was for early-mid game EXP'ing, that people can just fly over with FATE spam if they wish..
If a further 2-3 month delay on the release meant that they could have pushed CT and perhaps housing or PvP out on release, then they really should have.
Only for the simple fact that people cannot progress when the game isn't running. Releasing a game that has a very small amount of end game is truly setting themselves up for a big loss of subs.
We are all human, and humans get bored if they aren't kept occupied for the most part.
If something isn't worth our time, or we do not enjoy doing it - then there is little point in actually doing it. Currently endgame is:
- Do coil T1-4 (or 5)
- Do 5x dungeon runs.
Your choice in doing this is your choice, and cannot force it on others. (Which I know you are not necessarily doing).Which is why I made a new character, because I knew this would happen. Personally, I feel they should have wiped our characters. Can't complain in which something already happened @.@.
However if they simply did not carry data over and shut down 1.0 servers, they would have lost a lot of loyal subs.
In addition to this, it would impact the company pretty negatively if they decided to just shut down / delete characters that players have been progressing for 2 years..

I agree, that they should have held the game back until they could fit in Crystal Tower. However, the time of regret is past us, and can only move forward with the patches that are to come, and Expansions for the future.
-------------
Right, they do have that right to keep playing their 1.0 characters. Knowing that endgame is where it is, do you or anyone thinks they should have started over? When more endgame content rolled in, they could play as their legacy character. Or they good old unsub and wait till new content rolls in. Either way you put it, this is where we are at and it takes time to make content. It's time to choose, play and enjoy the game and give suggestions to SE, or unsub and wait until more content is available to them.
and people wonder why I said legacy 50s should just roll a new character :P
on a more serious note..
I don't care if people are bored and don't like to do 'everything'. it's a legitimate feeling they have that there is nothing to do for them.
what I do find to be annoying is the thought process that just because they are bored and have nothing to do that they have any ground to stand on. people who reach endgame usually quickly lose the 'whole picture' and eventually think everyone and their mother is as far as they are, or that for some reason they present the majority just because everyone they engage in has 3 lvl 50s in relic+1.
or take this forum for example:
if you don't have your main class lvl 50 you are extremely restricted. naturally the majority of posts happen by lvl 50s. that in turn gives you the very wrong picture that the majority is 50. this is not the case.
