Um, locusts eat pretty much*any* vegetation that is edible - they destroy croplands when swarming.
So, exactly like the locusts, your narrow interest in content (analogous to Locusts narrow interest in food (they are not omnivores after all) limits your ability to feed in the long term without moving on. - So, players like you describe are in fact like locusts.
Indeed, so *why* do you play that way? You don't sound like you enjoy it. you're playing a multi-player game, the whole point of a multi-player game is to bring players together so that their interactions can extend the play value of the content in the game. the only time II run any FATE is when I happen to come across them, I run dungeons and leves with friends and LS/FC members, or solo leves if no one is around. I'll even go through DF to get a PUg if there are not enough folks available at the time. But FATE don't hold any interest for me
Nothing wrong with those things
Your narrow focus on the game is hurting your ability to enjoy it.
Then, why do it? use dungeons and leves with friends.
It's a game, since when did efficiency matter so much? Then whole point of play is to waste time and enjoy doing so. Efficiency is almost counter intuitive to play. The same people complaining about a lack of things to do are the ones trying to be as efficient as possible, actively trying to reduce their play time.
That's the *point* of an MMORPG - meet new people, make friends and play *with* them.
I think you could fix most of it yourself just by making friends.
Honestly, I'm not trying to sound like a broken record, but so much of what you are complaining about comes down to choosing to play a more narrow scope than others and not interacting with others. I mean that FATE group you describe might as well be bots for all the difference it makes. Running dungeons and leves may (or may not) take longer, but it involves more social interaction and that makes it more enjoyable.
