played through the story, my thoughts

I finished playing through the main story and along the way there were some things which i was like " No problem I can see passed that". But up until the end when I received my Magitek mount and rode it for the first time I was like "Magitek mount but no Final Fantasy 6 music"? Well that broke it for me...

There was challenge, and it felt rather good during the dungeon portions. This felt somewhat like Final Fantasy 11. So kudos to SE for making a hybrid between WoW and Final fantasy 11.

There is no feeling of teamwork or challenge in the open world of eorzea however. The danger is not there. I remember the trek from Valkrum Dunes to Jeuno and feeling a sense of accomplishment for making it there in one piece. This feeling is non existent in xiv.

This game is very acceptable, more than xiv 1.0 for sure. Although I wish it was more like Final fantasy 11 I have to accept the fact that it will never be like it!!

Sorry, but going to Valkurm Dunes in one piece is not "accomplishement", it's "lack of frustration" compared to when you get your ass kicked by monsters.
It's like removing a knife from your hand and calling it "pleasure"

Story was pretty terrible to be honest. I liked some of the characters like Minfillia, Noraxia, Y'shtola, Papalymo, Yda, etc. but that was about it.

The content in the story was boring too besides the 1.0 copied Primal battles.. The only thing I really liked that is original to 2.0 was Titan.

Try doing Odin Fate. I know a groups of people who failed doing it. Haha, but yeah I get what you mean. It's honestly hard to fail anything when there's group of people who are helping to finish it though.

    Risk <=> Reward

When open world content has no challenge or risk it is unrewarding. Unrewarding content is generally considered boring content. Thus FFXIV's open world content is boring.

For years there has been a segment of the MMO player base that campaigns to make things easier constantly and they seem completely oblivious to the fact that there is no satisfaction in playing what they campaign for. FFXI's world was challenging and also frustrating at times but that meant it felt very rewarding when you accomplished something. I haven't felt that well rewarded in any game since XI because they all shy away from any form of 'risk' in the risk/reward dynamic.

If you don't have to put any effort in then you won't feel like you've achieved anything. Without that rush of satisfaction players get bored quickly, and low and behold the MMO industry has a massive problem with players getting bored lately.

The games story was only worth paying attention at level 40 with the Scion bussiness onward.
the other 39 levels were shit.
What ever happened to the guy who you meet on the rides?
    Or Alphiunad sister?

Edit: Actually, just remembered...The 3 guys of those rides were all triplets lmao.
I wish they play more of a part later in the story. I loved those guy. :/
    Oh well...

Actually Alisaie (Alphinaud's sister) appears after the main story as part of the Bahamut story line, and as a precursor npc for entrance to the binding coil.
