Cap serves no purpose. Literally no purpose (other than forcing people to pay the higher subscription).Arguably, you could gear yourself faster in Coil, if you're lucky enough, than to gear yourself in full Myth AF for one job. So both serve the same purpose.
I loathe both the caps and the lockouts but they are needed. It's a business move, of course. Don't know why is anyone surprised by that.... Us being able to actually enjoy what they produce is only a bonus. In the end, the customer decides what they'll do with their money. I'm not here because someone is holding a gun to my head, though.
It doesn't make you gear any faster. All it does it create less content.
Why they opted for it I can only assume is really terrible foresight and MMO design.

I feel like you haven't read any of the rest I've written. Perhaps I wasn't being clear enough so, I apologise if that's what happened. What I've underlined in your post is the purpose.

The business idea is to force the player into coming back every week, most players will not want to "miss" a week due to the limit, if you stop you cant just come back and recover the missed myth. So you have to keep your sub open, you have to keep coming back and you have to keep capping out.
Unfortunately, this is an old model and while some do it (myself lol) a lot say "What is the point?", and quit.
If they had no limit, what would happen? Same thing as Darklight. Everyone has it in 1 week, have nothing to return to, and quit. Everyone could get full AF2 for all classes very quickly, go smash up Coil for w/e reason (probably wont be one unless you want to get BiS) and they'd finish that in a week and there would be nothing left.
Considering relic is so ez with no limit and CT will have iLevel 80 gear, I don't blame them, if you don't plan on doing coils (heck coils is doable with dark light.. maybe not Turn 5 but why bother with Turn 5 when you can get a +1 relic in 3 weeks, which is often better.) theres no point to worry about Myth for a lot of people.

Capping the main mode of gear is fine, but capping it on a character rather than a class by class basis is not. All it serves to do is give people less things to do and that's the biggest issue in the game, there is nothing to do.
