Also... in sea there is the ufo nm.... and in the past in xarcabard there is a dragon who dives bombs player neither was well recieved.
oh...easy to kill mobs are more fun?

It's not like my idea is saying "yeah make it impossible for players to fight these mobs." I'm suggesting resting animations for mobs. Birds get mad at you NOW if you run by them and start pecking at you. It's really not all that different.

eldaena idea of resting positions or sitting on walls/trees is a good one though, but yeah when you fight them they need to hover, fighting a monsters that flys in circles 100 feet from you sucks.

And, you need to stop playing the game looking for things to be pissed about. rodegayn are big, i can jump like 11 feet when i do seismic shock, its not supposed to be reality. If floating creatures with wings takes you out of a fantasy game, then nothing is going to satisfy you.

Well i've seen other games handle flying mobs that swoop down to fight you and then stay near ground level and yet still don't seem "wrong" so I don't know why you guys are trying to excuse FFXIV in this one failing.

And I am not just looking for things to be pissed off about. In fact, in FFXI, one of the first mobs I saw once I left Windurst was a floating bird. And it annoyed me ever so! Ten years later and FFXIV is still crippled by forces within its control. I thought they would have learnt their lesson from FFXI and its tacky assortment of mobs. Evidently that isn't the case!

Feel free to show me the MMOs that have lots and lots of avian creatures that instead of being plainly visible just chill in trees and dive-bomb you.

Unlike normal games most monsters generally do the same thing, they wander around and attack or ignore you. Custom maping zones for a species of birds/bats would be a massive waste of time considering what else they could be doing instead. Then again if a "Floating bird" breaks your mind so badly that you ar eno longer immersed in the video game.

Perhaps you need to go hunt real avian creatures who are more than willing to sit in trees and then swoop down onto your face. Hell we should add the mechanic that birds would just...fly away when they noticed you are going to beat the shit out of them.

i hate the birds, they look silly and misplaced in this game. they look like Madagascar film runaways.

Well, by way of example, ArcheAge does it better than FFXIV. The birds in ArcheAge fly around in the sky for 90% of their adult life, and only when you attack them do they stop flying around in the sky. It's way more realistic.

People are so obssessed with MMOs like WoW (an MMO which is very unrealistic) that they've stopped even being able to appreciate the finer qualities in MMOs (such as realism).

You don't have to take it for granted that just because it is an MMO it is therefore unable to accommodate realism and individual mob-characteristics.

    Why settle for second best?

screw the battle and job system, this needs to get addressed now. it'd be as epic as the last target system patch.

At the very least I am suggesting they delete the birds.

Creating a realistic alternative is entirely optional.

Releasing substandard monster models and trying to pass them off as an homage to FFXI isn't a good enough excuse for these unearthly, floating demons of the skies.
