I kinda would rather not have the feature than have it implemented as horribly as most other things in the game. This is all I hear:
"Don't implement realistic birds because SE is too incapable"
"Make everything unrealistic and an eyesore because it doesn't matter anyway"
I mean come on guys! What game are you even playing? SE is supposed to be a game company that prides itself on its graphical and animation prowess. And yet, for some reason, you think they can't do this one, simple thing. It's a sad indictment on your expectations of SE if you do not think them capable of such a simple task.
Furthermore, the one staple commodity that this game has going for it is the graphics and realistic style of animations and other suchlike features. Why sacrifice FFXIV's one selling-point just because they want to include a recycled model from FFXI that nobody even liked ten years ago.
Just why? Why are so many people so appreciative of these crappy-looking birds and their equally crappy manoeuvrability?
Typical. Just typical.
Peach Parfait/Khulan Angura on Gilgamesh
Herpda Derp. That is all. XD <3 this troll thread rules. You should have made it about enemy movement all together and just include floating birds into it. Would have gone over a bit better with the average forum-goer here.
They could do with improving, but they shouldn't be removed.
Remember most of the time it's the little things that make the game.
If it's possible for a little things to make a game, then is it not possible for little things to break a game?
Just wipe these floating birds out already. Kill them all. They bring nothing to the game.
Of course, take out enough of the little things and it can leave a game lifeless.
Maybe I didn't make myself clear on what I said.
I think it's the little things that make the game, but as a generalisation.
I was speaking for all the little things in FFXIV, personally I don't feel a lot for the birds either, but take them out and you may feel like something maybe missing.
Sounds stupid I know but you never know.
To me that does sound stupid because the birds detract from the overall experience rather than add to it. Therefore eliminating the detraction would make it an addition, by default. Hence kill them all.Of course, take out enough of the little things and it can leave a game lifeless.

Just because it's there doesnt mean it's good. Are we really so starved for additions that we must support something that takes away from the experience?
Like I said it was a generalisation, I was only making a point about what adds to the experience and what gives that immersion. To me that does sound stupid because the birds detract from the overall experience rather than add to it. The birds for me is just another little thing in the game and doesn't really cause much distraction for me, yes they could do with work if they are to make a nice additional touch.
Of course this is only my opinion which I thought I'd contribute like everyone else.

This thread is just.....lol.
I don't care if they change or not but i would rather the birds walk around sometime then fly sometimes which most birds do.
Also most birds do spend most of their life flying unless they have bad luck and happen to have a human owner ^.^
It doesn't make sense to completely remove the birds, that's crazy talk, they should at least think about redesigning them at some point (some point meaning when they have less important issues to contend with)
