    Agreed, I want to take my new shiny gear into earlier end game instances. Why? It allows me to see how much I've progressed.

    Completely serious. The whole point of getting new gear is to become more powerful. If you can't use that new gear in other instances then you're not really getting "more powerful." Going from having groups of similar geared players and narrowly beating demon wall before you run out of space to defeating said wall before bee's spawn shows what your work has accomplished.

    It's called progression.
