Technically, as much as people like to believe otherwise there are actually some people are a lot more knowledgeable or open minded than they're given credit for. For example --

Suggestion: "We need giant laser shooting robots that rampages across every city and you have to defend the city from it's attack."

How would that not be a waste of time versus:

Suggestion: "Unlock chocobos and airship for more methods of travel, especially when Ishgard is related to battle content, we need quicker transportation and sometimes are low on anima."

So people who say "things are a "waste of time" generally mean in regards to something the game could benefit more from.

That's correct Jannesta! In the "Need does not equal want" section, I tried to make it obvious that no single player can decide what is "needed" for this game! It's up to SE to take in the suggestions and implement as they see fit! I also said "lets have some faith in SE!" to try and commune that they are the ones who make the final decisions!

We live in 2011 where everything is taken from the player they give out Beta but you working for the company for free. They take what you want and try and add it so you would pay there game. This is what SE want tanaka never listen to the players and that what i enjoy SE made a game and made it how they want it to be. But you also need to listen to your players at some point but not like blizzard and make the game 70% on how players want it.

A rant by me...

Hello, today I would like to share with you some of my thoughts! Over the past few weeks, I have been seeing some things that have really annoyed me! Some people seem to think that they know everything and they are the Messiah of all things FFXIV. Maybe that is a bit over-dramatic, but you get my point.

These are the things that are on my mind:

Need does indeed not equal want.

While this is true, who are any of you to say what this game needs? Are you a professional game developer for a triple A company? These very forums were created for suggestions and feedback, everything you post on here is a want and not a need, we do not need anything, not a single thing you post. Sure, this game may flop, but that is the point I am trying to make. Taking in suggestions is what is making this game turn out to be better, gradually.

Please don't tell me that things aren't needed, you can argue any and every suggestion on these forums is not something that is needed. Wants, not needs are what is going to make this game better. The only "need" is player feedback and suggestions.

Yes, it's true, this is Final Fantasy XIV and not any other MMO.

So you've played other MMOs? Five? Ten? Twenty? Just because you don't like something in one MMO doesn't mean that SE can't make it work in this game in a way that everyone can enjoy. Let's take the jump war for example. Some people are for it, some are against it. While I agree that jumping isn't something that is required right this very moment, we have been given no details about it at all, only that they will be evaluating it. Why don't you wait until they give us some details before you start prophesying the end of the world. Have some faith in the game developer we all love.

I speak for myself. "We" equates to yourself alone.

Seriously, I make my own decisions, I am the only one that speaks for myself. So please, stop acting as if you are the voice of the entire community, you aren't. Some people may agree with you, sure, but there are those that disagree with you as well. When you claim to be the voice of the community or even a large group/majority of players, to me, you look arrogant and ignorant.

This is a MMO, something designed to attract a variety of people from different backgrounds, and that, in turn, have different tastes. Sorry if that offends you, but its the reality of not even MMOs, but the internet and even the world in general.

This is by no means a personal attack against anyone. I am just tired of people assuming they know whats best for me and for the game I love and would love even more to see improved.

No single person will make this game amazing, it takes everyone, from the developers to the community.

I never said people can't complain ^_^ The message I was trying to convey was a: when you say you are speaking for the community, you aren't b: I find it annoying when people assume they know for a fact what should and shouldn't be done for the game, and everyone else is wrong c: have some faith in SE, since they make the final decision on what goes into the game
