How to level up a White Mage?

I find WHM, my second class, totally annoying to level up. In FATEs often I can't even cast an aero that the mob I targeted is already dead. I am currently at level 35, but mostly because I left various side quests to it while doing my main class.

If anyone has any suggestion, because I really hope I am doing something wrong. I keep getting bronzes in crowded FATEs. Parties do not help much either.

I leveled my white mages in fates. I do believe healing your fate party members helps you get gold. You can also try going to a less crowded area to run fates.

    well...
1st i want to note that my wtm is my main class. That said i was helping some friends lvling up (meaning fate grind) and end up lvling 5-6 lvl pretty fast (had to stop bc they wanted to lvl my main like that <<)
    my advice:
    - Always goes with a party
    - aero is actually very good, is an instant. just get to the mob and cast it, you should be able to cast it and put at least one. then just circle and cont putting aero around into different targets.
    - something that helps is learn where the mobs spam, so u get to them 1st
    - depending on ur friends gear u might be able to do more dmg with cleric stance, if they/u need a lot of heal i ll advice against this

note that i play at "off times" for NA, so fate are grounded but no insanely grounded (smn of my friends have told me that it can get CRAZY..)

hope that this helps, im no expert

You can get Flash from the PLD tree, but ultimately until you get Holy, Aero spam is one of the better ways to get gold from FATE's.

Just make sure to party though, always party.

My advice is to ignore the popular/congested FATEs and try looking for FATEs which are less congested - Sure the exp gain might be less but at least it's consistent. You just have to do a bit of exploring around to find some which are worthwhile in exp (and at least doable if no one else is around ).

Join a party and just tab around tagging crap with aero. If they're dying before you can even do that, then you're gonna have issues on ANY class :P

Last night I tried a new thing on my CNJ with a Fate, I healed everything and anything I could including NPC's without a party and made the most EXP I ever have(saw it recommended on here yesterday)...you could try that but I only do FATE's when I'm running across one, dungeons are so easy to get into with a CNJ and I prefer that way of leveling.

If you are level 35, do your WHM quest for Regen and just keep it up on all your party members at all time in any FATE with large groups of enemies. Each time it ticks it heals and will give you hate (if someone with Regen is attacking an enemy), which is how FATE XP is calculated. Don't do this for boss FATEs, though. You should be able to DPS and heal normally and get good XP on those, Regen spamming will just pull hate really easily.

My White Mage is now level 30 and i've been levelling mainly through FATEs (a few dungeons here and there to actually learn the class). The Aero - Tab - Aero to simply tag all monster, while in Cleric Stance, works wonders. Healing doesn't give nearly enough credit during low level FATEs so I don't use that as my main strategy. Until the later levels, or unless you only have 2 or 3 players, they don't take enough damage anyway (unless severely undergeared). I'm sure later on, with the bigger foes like Steropes, going all out on healing will work.

Aero everything you see, then regen as many as you can once everything has aero. Remember that overhealing generates enmity, so it doesn't matter if your healing is actually useful or not for fates.

If you're using keyboard/mouse (for now; 2.1 will let gamepad users easily target through the enmity list, too), find a THM/BLM in a non-boss fate and regen them. Every time they cast Blizzard, you'll end up with a bunch of mobs on your enmity list, and you can target each of those for aero. The enmity list can also give you several targets-of-targets to regen with easy clicks or macros (compared to chasing ARC/BRDs hopping around in circles with your mouse). Could also work with Flash/Overpower-happy tanks or AOEing ARC/BRDs, but those aren't guaranteed to be AOEing like a THM/BLM is.

Edit: I pretty much only solo. The only time I'm usually doing fates is when I'm waiting in the queue for dungeons.
