    Provoke question

Leveling a tank character and I have a question about provoke. From what I've read it's top emnity +1 but in my experience that's not the case.

For example. I'm not in a group and am doing fates. I come up on a single monster and he's got aggro on the bard who's being an idiot and running around like a chicken with his head cut off and still getting hit. I really really hate bards, but that's a different story. So I work up an emnity combo but before I Butcher's block I provoke thinking the BB will give me a good aggro lead. Almost every time it says "Fully Resisted" and I don't get top aggro. What gives? Does provoke only work in a party? Does provoke have an emnity cap?

Provoke does not work in FATEs, because (iirc) they calculate contribution based on enmity generated.

Provoke is most likely going to be used in a 1 party situation, in that case it will work as top enmity plus one, however in fates its pretty much a gamble how much agro your going to grab. There is a cap to aggro on what your going to pull from it. Many other players in fates will just drive the enmity just so sky high getting aggro from them while they are alive is impossible. I wouldn't even bother provoking in a fate situation or where 2 parties are involved. And as for bards like that, I recommend staying clear and letting the fools die and let somebody smart aggro that monster... like a actual tank class.

I think it has more to do with others being out of the party setting than FATEs itself.

Brannigan is correct. Provoke will 100% fail every time in fates. It is fully resisted every time.

@ the OP: Something to consider when using provoke is that it is NOT a typical taunt that gives you to to grab aggro. You need to be prepared to follow up immediately with something to get a threat lead. I like to provoke and immediately savage blade into RoH. Yes RoH is more threat but the animation is also 2s long and it won't generate threat until then. From my experience the 600 enmity + dmg from savage is enough to hold until the RoH animation is done.
