    Evasion Stat/Rate

    Evasion:

Why is the numerical value of our Evasion stat hidden? Or is it a set Rate?

Does Evasion have a hidden numerical stat value? Or is it merely a --% chance of Evading attacks depending on Monster level and accuracy?

How should we interpret skill descriptions such as Featherfoot regarding changes in Evasion?

Featherfoot: Increases evasion by 15% Duration: 15s

Does this modify a base value by 15%? Or does it adjust a --% chance of evading?

If the latter - is this --% chance of evading modified as multiplicative or additive?

Thanks to anyone... (devs?) with the answers to these questions.

What I'd like to know is why all of our stats have hidden values to them, not just dodge rate. I've literally never heard of an mmo that had all of the percent values hidden for stats. For now I'll take what other people say the values are for things, but it would be nice to actually be able to min/max for myself and not have to rely on what everyone else has when even they can't see the actual values for anything.

I agree - it's a very obfuscated approach to character stats. It leads to hours being wasted on testing incremental adjustments to your stats to see how and when rates adjust in comparison to those stat changes.

I wouldn't call it "wasted" since people even "waste" time testing stuff in MMOs that lays stuff out for you - It's what people like to do and often forget RPGs and MMOs have always been about number crunching under the shiny graphics.

I just wanted to tell you that FFXI hid most but the basic stats (7 attributes, attack, defense, magic resistance were shown). Ranged attack, R.Acc, Accuracy, Block, Parry, Crit chance (both directions), etc chance were never shown.

I'm not saying it should be that way, I'm just enlightening you to SE's history.

And the stats we do see have meaningless~ numbers (theorycrafters are trying, but it takes time and must be taken with a grain of salt). I don't want to see "423 parry", I want to see 22% parry, or whatever. It's fine to notate that these stats are against x-level monster.

But would you like to see armor with +0.0003% Parry?
No, no you definitely would NOT like to see that
Which is more or less what, say, +4 Parry is (exxagerating a little bit here)

Percentages are nice and all, but if you are looking at such small percentage increases you start getting discouraged, I sure know I was in CoH when looking at all those minimal 1% and 2% increases that gear gave me....
So those vague numbers in fact make you feel better

I don't need to see %s on gear itself, but on my character summary pane.
