Any way to cease Experience Point gain?

"What?! Stop experience gain?! Are you mad?!"

I've checked Google, threads and at menus in the game. So far I haven't been able to see if there is a way that enables the player to prevent themselves from gaining Exp (Few other MMORPGs have this).

You might ask, why would anyone want to stop gaining Exp?
Some people like to maintain a certain "sweet-spot" within a range of level for a while (e.g. if they find themselves unable to keep up with gear vs. levels.)
However, why I want this is simply because I want to attend as many fates and leves as possible and be able to gather large quantities of materials from monsters, but at the same time, I don't want to out-level my girlfriend, who has less time to enjoy FFXIV than I do.
Now I'm simply levelling a different class, but I'd still like to enjoy the current tier of content that my main job is at.

Is there such a function that I'm simply unaware of, or could it perhaps be added in a future patch?

I doubt they would ever add a feature like that because FATEs and dungeons are level capped and already let you sync your level if you're too high. Your only other options are to play less or play a different class.

There isn't an honestly, in this game...there's no reason for it. You will end up with no quests as it is once you get to your 2nd and 3rd classes, let alone all the others.

You're going to be doing a lot of grinding and there's really nothing you'd do as a group with your girlfriend that you won't be downleveled for.

I guess two things... one, are fates SO fun that you want to attend as many as possible while gaining no XP? two, if you want to level with your girlfriend just start another class and level that class with her. Or visa-versa. level your current class with her - when she levels - and level another class when playing without her. This is basically one of the core pieces of FFXIV gameplay.

Yeah, the silly 1000-character limit to forum posts didn't allow me to fully specify why I'd like to do stuff like FATE and Levequests with no exp gain, which is basically to still benefit from Grand Company seals, ranks, gil rewards and so on.

My main job is Paladin, so I'll be levelling up Marauder as well, which isn't so bad, as there are some abilities down the line that I might benefit from at some point on Paladin. :) (There's Conjurer for that as well).

There's only one sweet spot in the range of 1-50 and that's 50. If you need to catch up on gear, or want to wait for a friend, play another class in the meantime. Explore the world. Play PvP when it comes out. I can't imagine wanting to remove one of the main benefits of FATE.

Use a level 50 class and level sync. Also, you can edit your posts to go past the 1000 character limit.

This feature would be a waste of time for SE to implement for the 10 people that want it.

Dun dun dun... Hit level 50.

Also, as other people have said you can level sync to continue playing progress. I still like to play the lower leveled dungeons and sync is perfect for that. Seeing as though you don't have many classes leveled right now. You can level other classes to unlock abilities that will help your main class in the future. Like getting stoneskin, etc. If you are against that I'm afraid the only other option is to stop exp gain is to simply stop playing. Too bad there aren't hardmode servers that have things like weapon and breaks if not repaired before zero (being destroyed) or exp loss on death. That would be perfect for you, but then again your girlfriend might not like that kind of thing. Hehe.

I would suggest leveling a different class when your GF isn't playing and only playing the 'duo' class when she's able to join you.

Why You don't understand, that someone don't want exp? I grow up on Lineage 2. Exping was looong term mission.... That's how it supposed to be so You can enjoy all quests, explore world, dungeons more times, and get more experience with current class. Not just run through whole game and get max lvl for about 60 hours. Now for lvl up or even two you just need to run one dung. Plus dung lvling is so fast that its impossible to keep up with quests. I end up with lvl 48 still doing story and guild quests fo lvl under 30. so i bought story progress ... Why is it so fast? If someone is in hurry , cause he enjoy game this way ( which I don"t understand) then there is exp boost.

So again.... Is there a way to turn off/on exp gain?
