SE: What's the deal with the WHM/BLM end-game shields?

This thread is about the missing Ancient Shield and Ancient Buckler off-hand gear pieces.

These shields haven't been confirmed by anyone on the forums yet despite many, many Turn 5 clears. While this may very well be luck, or they're exceedingly rare, in all likelihood they simply are not in the game properly.

There are some issues with these shields:

    1. The WHM shield is useless, as Relic+1 and the Allagan Cane are both 2H weapons, and would never be replaced by a lower level weapon. Unless a new 1H iLVL90 WHM weapon is introduced, the shield will stay useless even if we could find it.

    2. The BLM shield is vital to making it worthwhile to switch from the Stardust Rod +1. It's a noticeable DPS loss to only use the Allagan Scepter, and the main reason to use the Allagan Scepter + shield is for the accuracy increase so you can gain DPS in other place. If the concept of Allagan vs Myth is sidegrades, right now, there is no sidegrade option for Black Mage.

    3. There's a bit of prestige in having the shields and using them, much like the Allagan weapons in general. To exclude WHM and BLM from using these shields due to unavailability or plain uselessness is a bit of a blow to those who wish to work hard and stand out a bit more from the crowd.

If these shields are in the game, I apologize. However, I would appreciate it if you look at the drop rates and confirm they're working as intended. Thank you.

For the time being you can use the Darksteel Buckler which is I believe a 2-3 INT loss over using the Stardust Rod +1 but probably won't be enough to be terribly noticeable. Not to mention you can probably stick a decent mix of materia on there to make up for it.
