Is in-game gil hacking still occuring?

I'm wanting to know. I have not been able to log onto my game due to homework, classes, and work. Then I heard of the in-game gil hacking that has occurred the past week or so, so I have been avoiding logging onto the game until that problem ends and whatnot. So is it still occurring or not? I currently stand at 300,000 (I can't remember the exact number, but I'm a bit above 300,000) gil, so I think I'm safe even if I do log on after hearing people being targeted for having over 1m gil.

You should be fine. If you want to be extra careful just use the summoning bell at the Inn then check your Gils from there.

i dunno, but if it is, people are probably gonna miss the whole lightning event, still waiting on a rollback from SE and i got hacked wayyyy back on oct 10th

best thing you could do is to have a unique to ffxiv password

Did nothing because hackers had direct access to the database and forced everyone who was near a retainer bell to buy cheap mats for millions. Mind you it could still protect you from a keylogger or brute force attack, but with this game's security record, yeah.

This did not protect you from the recent 'buy an item as another player' exploit. Yes it is a good idea but there are a lot of 'holes' in this game that two factor auth will not solve.

I have the physical security tokens (FFXI, FFXIV 1.0, FFXIV ARR). I actually have the app on my iPhone for it which I am currently using, and my password is very unique. I have letters, numbers, and a special character that makes it extra secured. So I'm safe on that!

Numbers and special characters don't really help. Best bet would be to have a password that's long, comprised of random words that you can easily remember.

It is quite long, at 10 characters long. I had only used my Retainer once, and that was to store my materials I had gathered for crafting. I haven't sold anything on the Market Boards yet, but I did buy some fishing bait awhile back and that was about it.

Keep your gil on your retainers and you should be fine.

The sec token didn't help with this particular thing, but you should still have one if you don't already.
