Why the netcode issue exists, and why it cannot be fixed.

And then there was Ninja. Ninja had Mijin Gakure. The only purpose of this ability, for years, was to suicide, to "death warp" to your home point. It had no other real practical use. In the last few years, they changed it so that ninja's weren't weakened when raised after a mijin gakure, but it still is and was pretty awful unless you had Auto-Reraise.

(It did deal damage to the target, but it was worthless amount of damage.)

You obviously didn't get to experience those epic 1% kills with Mijin Gakure when everyone else is dead...

all i know is that 300ping or less with no spikes, you are in heaven then with 300 or more and u need to start developing clairvoyance skills, study just to play against 1 boss that abuses 1 hit KO or buy lots of keyboards, mouse because you will rage.

I am quitting FFXIV for this reason only, this is a great game, the graphics are awesome and the gameplay is interesting and fun; but this issue makes this game unplayable for me. I get hit by EVERY aoe no matter how quickly I move out of it, it was ok a lower levels but it became more of a problem later on - to the point that I die a lot in the later content. I have fast internet but because I live in the SW USA I get horrible lag and when you add this huge design flaw, I cannot play this game. I canceled this morning.

I feel you, I started playing this a month and a week ago and I'm not sure how long I'll stay here, this issue is locking me out of EX primals and coil and I ended up so traumatized that I haven't touched Stone Vigil since the first day I did it.

So far I've been enjoying leveling other classes and gearing from daily roulette, but whenever I get bored of that and want to try end-game content I'll probably end up canceling my sub.

I almost never have lag during any fight (though, what little I do have happens during Titan) and I unsubscribed earlier today. Other people being effected by the problem that plagues you, effect the group, and therefor I can't finish certain fights or spend all day wiping before luck smiles upon us. It's way too much of hassle to seek out players with no issues so I'm just gonna quit. I shouldn't have to fight the system to play the game.

Due to this "netcode decision" i'm gonna play until my month expire then move on to Wildstar.
That's the only reason i will leave.

EU - 50ms, USA - 132ms, JAP - 312ms (Playing on EU Odin)

They can keep the net code, but they need to adjust for its disadvantages to players.

whatever their "base ping" might be (50ms or 100ms I suppose), check if the connection is over that amount and adjust the cast time to compensate. so if the base was 100ms, and your ping was 150, your cast time would have 50ms added (or possibly 100 if you need to deal with both-way traffic)

This doesn't just fix the game for the people who are too far away from the servers - it also fixes it for people trying to play with those disadvantaged in DF, etc. More people able to do more content is always a good thing.
