In the case of a party, if people want to be sensitive on the matters of advice or whatnot, there's ways around it just by reworking how you say it.

Recently, I didn't really want to single out someone, so I just laid out a plan for the party to the chat. The issue was that the Paladin was having a hard time with holding multiple mobs (because he wasn't using Flash at the start to grab multiple mobs). "tank rounds up adds with ranged and flash on occasion, heals hold back if you can until flash goes off, dps focus on marked". Mind you, I know that's not perfect advice for the tank, but you really don't want to over-complicate things when people are learning.

For the most part, there are work arounds to things, which is probably why I'm content even without the /tell function. And I get the idea of social methodology for people differing, but unless something is game-breaking to the individual, it's really not needed for them. Just because other games have the function avail, doesn't mean this one has to if they don't want it. WoW has functions like Recruit-A-Friend and account-bound friend chatting, but it doesn't mean this game needs it (yes, I know /tell chatting is a much more primitive function than those). If the devs don't want it, despite some players being verbal about their dislike of it (which they are aware of and have replied to), then that's just how it's going to be here... at least for now.

Don't mistake this into thinking I'm saying to not express a wanting for it, I'm just saying that it's not necessary as exclusively negative, as there are arbitrary ways to circumvent... heck, you don't even have to look at it positively to be honest lol.
