    Multi Slot Armor: Feedback

    This thread is about our current Philosophy armor, and its multi slot function. I see scattered conversations in the different class forums about how *this is ugly* or costs of these multi slot pieces. There is no need to go into aesthetics, as they are all opinion, beyond the fact I am sure many wish for a *remove head slot* for their visuals. Overall a multi slot piece costs more up front, but you are receiving the same value as people buying their pieces separately in the end. This thread is not about any of these things!

    What I want to talk about, while hopefully getting some unification from forumers, so that we can make our point to the devs, is that multi slot armor is bad by design. Unless a whole armor system is based off this multi slot function (Coil/CT/AK/WP drops), it hurts our upgrade paths, and even at times raid progression (downgrading to upgrade) just to fill these slots. This is mostly from a tank perspective, as casters are lucky enough to have some crafted ilvl70 (vanya) to fill in for their head/body if an upgrade comes along, but tanks in *four* slots have a big issue.

    This type of design would be acceptable if everyone had these extra options. The crafting option for casters is nice and workable, but there should be a vendor philosophy option as well.

    Moving forward: Devs, please remedy this. This is an ongoing problem, even into CT if you don't make changes. Add slot options for all classes! Another idea, add a *disconnect* feature to existing armors! Make the armor its full price, and come together as is, but once you have received/put on the item, allow for a disconnect and split the stats into head/body or legs/feet (with respective split stats) for future upgrade potentials. Give crafters more crafts! Let us make/buy the side grade if need be, this would be an easy addition without affecting current drops in the game world and undoubtedly make crafters happy with extra money in their wallets.

    It does suck when you get an upgrade that requires you to downgrade gear as your last piece was a 2 slot. Example Darklight Cowl of Healing, Get Allagan robes of healing and now I gotta dig out my old AK / AF helm. Yes I get stat wise it is an upgrade but I shouldn't have to pull out 'old' gear when i get 'new' gear.

    I support this OP.
    It really is a bad design the way upgrades are designed at the moment. You have Tank or Healing/Casting gear. And you try to upgrade to Relic/Allagan armor and BAM! You're either out a head slot, a body slot, legs or feet slot and either keep wearing your multi-slot gear or down grade to AK/AF/WP gear to fill the new slot you have opened up. It's annoying especially if you didn't save (AK or WP) gear.

    I agree, and it's one of the points I try to iterate whenever the topic of the multi-slot gear gets brought up. It's horrible design from far more than just an aesthetic perspective.

    I hope they never make another multi-slotted armor. I'm fortunate so far my classes have been able to avoid them.

    I like the variety it brings, but being able to toggle hoods up/down and stuff would be nice.

    I don't mind that it brings Variety. By all means keep it in the game as an *option*. Right now we don't have an option, and its very easy to see why this is quite a problem. They could make both sets, and have singular pieces more expensive in Philo then the combined double, with same stats (or sidegrade stats for optimizing per tank), but forcing the majority community to take it and downgrade when they upgrade isn't good design.

    There is actually quite a bit more variety in gear options when you have separate pieces.
