Garuda Requirements

I want to do Garuda HM but I know my gear isn't quite up to par yet.

How much gear do I need to be acceptable for these runs?

You should be able to do Garuda with gear from WP/AK dungeons.

Iirc, I started tanking her with WAR at ~6200 hp (mog axe, full vit allotment with vit melded dps accessories), but she didn't get all that easy 'till ~6600 hp; I'm not sure what contributed the most to the change in survivability, but hate wasn't that big of an issue with a good opening chain (pre-cast infuriate > tomahawk > unchained > butcher's block > internal release > normal butcher's block combo x2 to Storm's Eye combo; recommended mostly when faring against better equipped damage dealers).

I tanked Garuda for the first time in a mix of hoplite and AF gear with a couple DL accessories + Ifrit blade. Dodge slipstream and she doesn't hit that hard.

If you're MTing Garuda its far more important to KNOW where you need to position her at all time as there is a lot of movement.

If you're OTing Garuda its far more important to be able to GRAB the red add as this is the #1 point of failure from my experience. The red add isn't handled and healers can't deal with it (they shouldn't have to).

Looking at your character, you would need another 1 or 2 DL pieces and should be fine but not a must and i'm talking about being OT. As for your accessories, if you're going to OT, i would at least get the HQ versions and add some VIT materia which aren't very expensive and easy to meld on there till you get more DL later.

Overall, i would personally get another DL piece that has the most impact on your stats so check which DL is a big upgrade for you and get that one, that should alone be enough to do Garuda.

OT doesn't require much more then paying attention. I had right at 6k HP with zero DL pieces when I got the win. Help DPS until adds pop then keep their attention.

The requirements:

-You need at least 2-3 pieces of armor level 70 (AKA, Darklight armor) the rest can be AF acceptable. Accessories use the most highest level you can buy from market or use DL one.
-You need Ifrit Weapon or equal weapon level 60-70 if you gonna Tank Garuda
-And you need good healer, reliable and professional

I cleared as OT (pld) with 1 x DL (belt), 2 x hoplite (legs/ boots), 5 x ilvl 49 accessories, ilvl 55 weapon, ilvl 60 shield.

Based off your lodestone I'd say you're just fine for off tanking. Garuda is more of a skill check than a gear check. If you're gear is great in your group you just kill her faster and avoid phases, but you're gear as you have it would absolutely be enough. I OT'd Garuda just fine with gear worse than yours. As for main tanking you probably have enough as well. Just avoid slipstreams and you'll be fine. Don't let everyone here convince you that you need crazy gear. Titan is the gear check. Not Garuda.
