My 1.0 characters where put into a JA server upon reopening my account.

After I rejoined the game and accessed my account with my three 1.0 characters around October 18th, I found they had for some odd reason been put in a JA server. All of them. I don't speak Japanese. At all. As far as I'm aware, my characters were in a server populated mainly by English speaking players. Seeing as how the FAQ in the support section had no information that applied to me that I was able to make use of, I was very lost, and was hesitant to submit a ticket, because in my experience, all I ever get from such impersonal endeavours is a "problem acknowledged" response, regardless of the details of my plight. I could not, and still cannot find a customer support phone number, so I can actually request help or guidance on where to go to find out just what is wrong and how to deal with it.

Meanwhile, I was relieved to see that there was a free transfer period in effect, and thought, "Oh! good! I can actually enjoy the content I paid for! I can just use this to transfer my characters to a NA legacy server" Unfortunately, I was then kicked in the proverbial nuts when it told me I could not transfer my characters, as I had not fufilled every last requirement. I understand things like items in retainers, calamity salvager, and etc., but with the requirement of having to complete a certain quest, I essentially lost any chance of utilizing this service without cost. I could not get my characters to fulfill all the requirements in time, and as such, could not actually play the game I have invested so much money in.

I recently submitted a ticket detailing all this, and the issue of one of my lower leveled character's levels being reset, as what should have been 2 levels in archer were reset to not having the class at all, among other classes that I'm not sure what level they were at. I got this in reply:

    "Regarding Your Data Concern

Hello and thank you for contacting us regarding your character data restoration request.

We have received your request and it will be forwarded for further review to confirm whether or not any data was transferred improperly from your last character save on November 1, 2012. We would also ask that you please review the article on the FINAL FANTASY XIV 1.0 Lodestone website:

    http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com...e956cb586363ab

Please note that there are a number of items that would not have been transferred, as mentioned in the article, but you can be sure we will strive to restore any data that was not transferred properly. We understand the importance of having a complete character to enjoy on your new adventures.

We appreciate your continued patience while we investigate this matter and thank you for your continued support.

FINAL FANTASY XIV Game Master Staff"

Okay. The character having incorrect data is noted. The problem of the characters being put into the wrong freaking server isn't even acknowledged.

I've reached the point of 2 of the 3 characters where I can't progress any further into the game without doing 3 different dungeons, which all require a party.

In October I paid around $35 on this game, 14-15 on the monthly fee, and 20 on a digital collector's edition. I paid for a month's worth of gaming, and essentially haven't even been able to get more than a week out of it, for an error that shouldn't have even occurred in the first place. And I may not even get this resolved anytime soon either, as after the response that basically said "yeah, we'll get there eventually" I've heard not a single goddamned word.

I'm not reporting an a large error or glitch, or a major bug in the game. This shouldn't be THAT hard to deal with

I invested time and money on this game in it's 1.0 stage, and lost a good deal of what I worked for when the game was essentially forcibly reset. I like ARR, despite losing most of what I invested into in 1.0, and having no way of ever seeing what parts of the story that are no longer available that I had missed. But being denied the right to enjoy the majority of the game's content is incredibly aggravating, especially when it's something so simple.

I do NOT want to pay $18 just to be able to speak to other players, and gods-damned refuse to let this slide. I have already been betrayed once when the content that I had payed for was snatched away from me. After such a long wait that, with the great improvements they have made in ARR, finally was looked like it was going to pay off, I have gotten another aggravating problem thrown in my face.

Well, long winded and unplanned rant aside, I have a few main queries:

Does anyone know where or what went wrong, if anything, on my end or theirs?

Is there some sort of service for dealing with server location transfer issues for 1.0 players? Something that would likely predate the $18 official service. (I found stuff with info on what items and content do not transfer, but nothing on how I can choose which server location my characters can go. I shouldn't have to be stuck with a JA server without some sort of free option to transfer to a NA server, as a free server transfer for 1.0 characters should be a matter of course, seeing as how they got shunted around with the release of ARR.)

This may not be related to my main problem, but is there a customer support phone number, or the equivalent, for North America?
-I want to actually hear where I should go with issues like these, without having to wait days in between responses. Screw ticket submissions, and FAQs all of which have no guarantee of actually answering my question. I want somewhere to go where I can ask for help with problems I'm having. FAQs only cover the most common queries, and even then only answer the that specific question for the topic it is on. I find tickets to be inefficient for anything other than being able to notify the company of errors, bugs, and problems. I want to be able to ask for help, guidance, or be pointed in the right direction, and neither of those should be on their own.

As I cannot find a way to actually converse with someone, I'm forced to come here, the forums, which at least I might not have to wait months before I get any sort of acknowledgement.

They weren't put on the wrong server. All the legacy servers were combined and turned into JP. AKA ALL legacy players were put on JP servers. We then had a registration period where you were supposed to transfer your character (for free).

Then about a month ago they did another free transfer to help others who missed the first one (and to help non legacy who couldn't get on full worlds).

Basically, you missed the boat two times, and are probably going to have to wait until regular transfers open up.

There was a free transfer period for 1.0 characters during the beta testing. Since during 1.0 the servers were global, and all housed in a JP datacenter and in 2.0 they were having a separate NA datacenter, they did give a brief window to ensure that your characters were on the server you wanted. But you're not the only one who missed it. In the beta forums (taken down at launch) there were a number of complaint threads from people who didn't get the email or otherwise were unable to reach a computer during the few days it was available.

I realize this doesn't help you now, but the recent free transfer period was actually the second one that you had available to you.

Actually not all legacy characters got put on JP servers, I had two from 1.0 and when I started 2.0 one was on a JP and the other one was already on a NA server, and regular transfers are already up if you want to transfer to a NA legacy server.

It seems that there have not been any further posts about this concern being an ongoing issue. Because of this, we are considering it to be resolved. If this does continue to be a concern, please create another thread to further discuss resolutions or contact the Support Center at support.na.square-enix.com for assistance.
