The key to enjoying the game is to not permit professional endgamers to cloud your frame of mind. These folks burn themselves out and won't happy until everyone's burned out like them. Explore as much of what the game has to offer and let your character's progression proceed at your pace rather than some so-called "pros" (who aren't getting paid a cent as far as I can tell).

I've been playing since Early Access and it's been a ride. From learning to fight with Carbuncle to Getting my Relic book, it's been a fun experience so far. 2.1 looks like it could be even beter as the Crystal Tower completes the bridge between primals and the Coil.

I'm with ya OP. FFXIV:ARR is my first serious MMO even as a casual player and I'm loving it. Wonderful aesthetics even on PS3 (Mor Dhona is beautiful), so far a good story and solid gameplay that caters to different styles (FATEs for power-levelers)
