Remove auto logout and release my 1017 friend free!
You have no way of knowing if the feature is needed or not. I don't get queues that often but I still get them sometime. Now if people are able to afk and stay logged in 24/7 the queues may be much worse.
Everyone I know uses the crafting menu or npc shops to avoid the auto-log out anyways. I'm not sure how it makes a difference either way.![]()
Hmm, just curious, but do you people doing the complaining know there is a rather simple way to avoid the auto-logout?
I do it all the time when I know I'm gonna be afk for an extended period of time but still want to keep my game up.
I support the Auto Logout feature.
Revenant's Toll
Quarrymill
Any City near the Retainer Bell (except Limsa, you unloved pirate city)
I want my Quarrymill gathering leve nodes to show up! Why aren't you running toward the FATEs, why aren't you chatting, queued, or crafting? Why won't you let me see my leve nodes in peace?!
edit: Aw man, this is in the Website Feedback section. Like putting a disc in another movie's case. It's still in your possession, it just takes longer to find later. OP, why you do this?! So much rage feels this morning.

Actually they can still stay logged in 24/7 if they really want to. In fact it is really quite easy to bypass the logout timer.
Right now you have people (mostly RMT) sitting in game afk for hours by initiating a dialog with either an NPC (ie. levequest or vender) or sitting in their inn rooms with their retainer or viewing a cutscene and until the Devs actually fix this issue by forcing logoff even if in middle of a dialog box/cutscene anyone and everyone can get around this.
Because a vast majority of people aren't going to bother with that when they know they can log back on in a couple minutes. The only people who are doing those things are the ones who feel they will be afk for more than 30 minutes, but are still playing. That's really not a problem. I feel they made the time limit too short, but it's no big deal to me. The whole point was to stop the people who were remaining logged on 24/7 because they would not be able to get back on again. That problem has been solved, but none of us has any data as to how much the auto-logoff is effecting that.
They could make it work much better by coding it so that it requires a physical input function from mouse KB or controller to interrupt the timer. Sure there will always be ways around it. But the point is, how many people are willing to make the effort to save 2 minutes of login time? I would say already a huge number of people who use to afk during the post launch problems, are no longer doing it.Actually they can still stay logged in 24/7 if they really want to.
