I have updated the boot.zip file again. Download it and replace the "boot" folder in your game installation directory. Let me know if it works.

Thanks for your boot.zip I think this is not normal, that we have to each time boot download folder. Thanks Again!
You are my hero man! This worked for meI am finally able to play; "Go to your run box in your start menu on the pc. type msconfig. when there goto services. Then uncheck everybox but the microsoft services." This is what fixed it for me, for everyone else having this issue, I hope it resolves it for you as well.
Edit: However since I reinstalled the game to try and fix it, it seems I know have to wait 3hrs for patching ;-;
And yes, I have to install the whole game once again too lol

Ugh, brace for problems down the line when disabling anything using msconfig. Ten years in IT has shown me that such actions are a mistake that leads to OS re-installation.
Sigh, I almost said my farewells over this.
But this just seems to be an extension of my problem last month of not being able to load the game launcher without the similar error showing up.
I discovered my solution was to very quickly click on the launcher upon startup.
And when the patch/update server started acting the same why yesterday... took me a day or two for the light bulb to flash. Do the same thing!
Very quickly click on the launcher upon start up and Asap sign into the game, and this time, it started downloading the newest patch.
Something isn't letting me activate ffxiv unless it's at the start when the pc is still loading. But I guess I should count my blessings...
I do all what is write there, but there is no result![]()

Try turning off sleep mode, had this problem before and that fixed it.

Thanks Jinwa, replacing my boot folder fixed it for meI have updated the boot.zip file again. Download it and replace the "boot" folder in your game installation directory. Let me know if it works.

I had this exact same issue and it seems that the script launch errors (black launch screen) and this coincide with each other. I had a malware virus download on my computer last night. Since i was already trying to figure out a solution to the black launch screen it seems that the launcher uses internet explorer as a shell. So I deleted the Malware program (it was called scorpion ad or something) and restarted my computer. then I got this error of unable to check version. So I ran the program Malware Bytes (cnet download) and everything seems to be running fine. See if this solution works. The programs free, might as well give it a shot.
