Primals Hard Questions

I have just reached Level 50 and I know my next quest is the quest in taking on Gaius and Ultima Weapon. I have the Standard Quest earned Level 50 Paladin gear as you can see on my character page. I want to aim to get Curtana and Holy Shield after that quest. I guess there are a few questions in this post.

1) Is my Level 50 Gear enough for me to do the Praetorium quest without being a shitty tank?

2) I already reviewed what is necessary for the Curtana and Holy Shield and to do any of the Primals quest would the Level 50 gear just make me a major set back? Is the only way to go about it is to HAVE the Darklight Gear?

I am sure obviously the Darklight will make it easier but it is just me wondering if I could attempt these quest or will I be outranked and just be scolded for even coming into the Quest with story Given Lv50 Paladin gear
