    [sugestion] AUTO ATTACK IMPLEMENTATION

I KNOW THERE ARE A LOT OF THIS POSTS and...

I know SE dev team had a very serious tought when they were planning to add auto attack to FFXIV, but just to be sure i just wanted to say a few things about it.

First of all, i like the current system at some point im gonna just put one thing that i like to be quick with this post, this issue has effect on all melee classes:

The thing that i like most of this system is that i can do whatever i like when i want, if im in a fight and want to use multishot and stack 3 arrows, then use buffing abbilities before i attack, then wait till theyre done with Battle regimen so i can shoot the mob when it has defense down status, I CAN.

The thing that im worry about is that if they implement auto attack you have to give your back to the mob as in FF XI because you had the normal attack in your way all the time, as an archer i dont know if theyre gonna do autoattack with light shots, but as melee class like pugilist i can see that happening.

Pugilist for example will be hitting fast (so they say will be a lot faster than FF XI) so when you make a buff it might get the normal attack in your way, before you can set another buff or use a weaponskill. I know that they already have a solution (being positive) the feedback here would be if they can make autoattack to be SET ON and OFF easily like if you hit the light strike key would make auto attack to start then when you use a buff on yourself the auto attack is set off, that way you can keep buffing yourself and make the weaponskill when you're ready and with that i guess we'll have the best of both worlds in my op.

Please feel free to troll around, and share any toughts you might have.

The reason you had to turn your back in FFXI was because striking the mob gave it TP (about 2-3 just like if you were struck by something). Having 10 or so Meelee constantly striking something (For about 50 dmg each hit if they were good) wasn't worth feeding the monster TP on that scale, and would inevitably lead to wiping the group when the healers couldn't keep up with AOE spam every 20 seconds.

It won't be a problem here because the TP mechanics and party sizes are different. I don't think we'll see 2 18 man alliances worth of people attacking the same creature(s) in FFXIV. On that note, I do like the fact that auto attacks aren't a factor. It seems like a dated mechanic of MMOs past, that quite frankly could be done away with.

the reason you turned your back most of the time was not to auto attack, like when people were sleeping a monster, when you had to do a lot of buffs, etc. I cant count the number of times we had to scream disengage in dynamis.... I too hope you can stop AA with 1 button press, without sheathing your weapon. in this game you actually take more damage and have less evasion from the rear, they definitely dont need the AA wont stop problems ffxi had.

I forgot about those instances...I rarely dealt with those as often as larger NMs that you couldn't afford to feed TP to. Having to build TP off weaker things and WS the big critter was a rather annoying mechanic.

I totally oppose auto-attack but I can praise it for curtain situations (coagh!, farming, coagh!)

I do like a feature to toggle it on/off though... make the world happy but the stamina gauge sets a modifier of you attack strengh. I don't how taking that away will make things improve battle tactics.

Leave it there for the player who want it!

I like auto atacks. Especially if it blends well with the materia system being able to be used for procs. I am leveling lnc/thm combo with a little con mixed in, to make my ideal debufferish type character. Its working well, but if I could have a way to add materia to weapons to get benefits such as procs, my ideal would be lifetap proc. IE, every swing I connect on a mob, I have a % chance to do a spall life tap through the power of my weapon. A multitude of procs could possibly be added to weapons this way, possibly. The same goes for armor, and armor procs as a possibility.

To top it off though, I agree also, with alot of other posters, that the ability to actually still get a least some damage in, while typing to friends/Linkshell mates/group mates and what not is a great plus.

Did you really need to copy paste this on two threads? as i've said before im half and half on the issue i kinda liked the system we had even if it was badly implemented but so long as the auto-attack system isnt just a rehash of xi's auto-attack i think i can put up with it.

I myself didn't have a problem with the AA in xi, nor do I mind the system now but what I can't stand is the delays in commands. To be able to turn AA on and off though would be an awesome idea indeed .

I'm pretty sure the main reason there wasn't AA to start with was because the "Tanaka Team" thought it would keep the player from going stray on the game and interact more. People just standing there hacking away- going to take a shower/ falling asleep at the controller would be more noticeable (then kicked from the party early).

This new FF14 DEV-team is starting to suck.
