    Tanking isn't enjoyable, Please FIX

PLD was my first class I hit 50 with. I ran tons of dungeons up to 50, and a few AKs later. I couldn't handle how unjoyable tanking is as PLD, and I'm sure it's not as enjoyable for WAR either. Here's my dilemma: Tanks aren't dynamic enough to warrant a person to want to play it. Rev's toll is proof of that.

My 2nd job to take up to 50 was DRG. Can I be honest? I hated the Class, I initially hit 20s for Invigorate, then 30s for Blood, then I decided to hit 45 for the cool AF. At some point along the line, I started to enjoy DRG. Why? Because I wasn't sitting on my couch pressing O > Square > Triangle on my controller. I was pressing multiple buttons to successfully execute my abilities at a mob, and that's hell fun. I love how Jumps and stun are off cool down from other abilities. I won't up my main rotation simply by stunning an incoming AoE, and my DRG is always on the move. It's FUN.

So what does DRG have to do with tanking? If anyone has hit 24 GLD, congratulations you have now learned Rage of Halone, now you have the rotation you will use for the rest of your life, with some situational buffs you can use here and there. That's right, your gameplay won't change, even when you obtain AoEs and Defensive buffs, because you aren't require to keep up abilities for helpful buffs. Tanking is boring.

I feel like PLD/WAR could be more engagingly scrapping some of the buffs they get and integrate it into offensive abilities which grant "Additional bonus" of defensive buffs via-combo executed. You don't even have to create new abilities! You can base the additional bonus buffs via the sequence in which you use you main 3 Offensive abilities! Ex: Rage of Halone > Fast Blade > Savage Blade = Criteria + additional bonus of 20% dmg reduction. Then Fast Blade > Rage of Halone > Savage Blade = Dmg + Fracture + 30% block rate increase

Get where I'm going? Tanking could be so dynamic and fun, that the "Good tanks" aren't based off of having Relic +1 weapons, but about being GOOD. Meaning geared tanks would be MONSTERS. Which GOOD TANKS should be allowed to be....

Tanks would be so much enjoyable. Am I alone on this? And why doesn't PLD/WAR have an Elusive Jump type ability to avoid an AoE or an ability to Charge at a target? Shield lob and axe throw are such unoriginal abilities!!

I'm enjoying PLD actually. I've already got my relic plus DL gear for my DRG and I find both classes very different.

I find PLD just as challenging as DRG. Granted there are more rotations to DRG, but your attention to the battle field is very different from PLD.

Tanking requires you to not only keep an eye on hate, but make sure that everyone else maintains their neutrality against the mobs and be prepared for when you lose aggro. You have to pay attention more to your party versus DRG. There's a lot more responsibility for Tanking and you really don't want to get jumbled up with tons of combos. The Halone combo is for building up hate, not to look flashy and cool.

DRG requires you to focus on your positioning, avoiding attacks, and watching your aggro. Very minimal attention is needed on the other party members. While jump is cool, it really leaves your vulnerable to attacks. (SE said they will fix this but we'll see)

Overall I enjoy both classes in their own unique way.

I used to hate PLD, so decided to pick up whm (used to play it in XI), and I also want to understand the aspect of the dps; therefore I lvled a BLM to lvl 50 also. after running Ak, WP and HM primals with all three type of jobs, I actually enjoy play as pld the most. Yes, it is not a fun job to play, yes, it is thankless job and you get blamed on when thing goes wrong, but there must be a reason you chose to be a pld in the first place......

While i certainly agree that tanking right now isnt enjoyable, it's not because of the job itself. And i certainly dont want it to be a monk that's so dynamic and complex that it gets stressful.

The real problem with Tanks are your other party members having diffirent expectations of what you can and cannot do. And the following apparent shitstorm for when you cannot magically dodge or stun 100% of an instant charge time attack.

Simply getting better cures and more ways other than simply flashing to keep hate on groups of monsters would be more than enough. I wouldnt mind getting an ability that puts a debuff on monsters giving them an extra second or two for a move to charge up.

Or heck, even having Shield Bash OFF the global ability cooldown will do a lot towards fixing tanks. Right now you can either fire off attacks, or stand there doing nothing so you're able to stun in time if you see anything. You cant do both since Shield Bash has a high chance of being unavailable.

ALL OF YOU PLAYING TANKS AND HAVING FUN ARE WRONG. YOU AREN'T HAVING FUN, EVEN THOSE PLAYING A CLASS THAT I HAVEN'T PLAYED.
