[DEV] Do I need to keep my current PS3 ID to play on my PS4?

So I'll be getting my playstation 4 tonight and I need to know if it will be mandatory to keep your same playstation ID in order to receive the free copy of FFXIV that is being promised to playstation 3 users?
I would like to change my ID and start fresh on the PS4 but I imagine I would like to play FFXIV on said console when it becomes available.

Yoshida; I believe it was taken really well. We received reports from overseas yesterday, and it was really positive. Everyone was thinking that it was going to be cheaper by 1,000-2,000 yen. For those that haven’t tried FFXIV ARR, we would like them to start their adventures from the PS3 version.

Just so you know, a community rep is either gong to respond or not respond to your post based on 1) the content and 2) if he actually has an answer to give. Putting [Dev] in your topic title will not increase the probability of a response.

Also, as they generally have to check with and translate messages from the JP team, you generally won't get an immediate response even in the best of cases. So about that "by midnight tonight" thing, good luck.

Even if you create a new ID I'm sure you can set up another user on the system using the old ID if it turns out you need it. A system as advanced as the PS4 ought to offer a multiple user function... right?

Bump, same here! As I was also going to change IDs for the PS4, but then realized I have my current PS3 ID tied to my XIV account.

If you mean your PSN ID, you can use it with your PS4
If you mean your SE ID, you would need it to log in your FF XIV account
