Open zone with mobs you cannot solo would be great.
So would be events that matters(ie not fate)/pop nm/rare monsters.
Add some depth to the game and the zones.
Right now it feels more than diablo 3 than like a real mmo : dungeon spam and itemization only.
It's sad when people don't realize they don't matter anymore in todays market.
FFXIV wasn't designed to be like XI, deal with it. It's a different game, as much as EQII was from EQ.
Deal with it
PS
And turning this into XI won't help retaining players, considering how much of a niche XI has always been
FFXI had a larger marketshare than XIV does. XI also had excellent player retention. It's sad when people don't realize they don't matter anymore in todays market.

well, you've completely missed the point the OP tried to make clear or what this topic is supposed to be about. It's sad when people don't realize they don't matter anymore in todays market.

read it again and tell me in which way the OP is trying to turn FFXIV into FFXI.
Participating in what exactly? So you feel since this game barely even beat the numbers of an 11 year old MMO, that it's winning this so called competition you have going? I will say one thing, FFXI might not have had the numbers but it sure was a lot more fun than FFXIV in my opinion.
Just think about what you are saying. 2-300k subscribers, paying their $12.99 (or whatever it is) every month. For 12 years.
You think XIV will be around in another 9 years? Or SWTOR? Or Rift?
That player retention is incredible. There are so few other games that can match or exceed it. WoW and EvE can. It made FFXI the most profitable game in SE's history, bar none.
Today's market has changed. All people want is THAT kind of game. It doesn't matter if they only play 2-3 months and then leave. It is still what the market is dictating, unfortunately. Trying to change it by whining in a forum is pointless, though it did work well for wowtards in GW2 with their gear grind crusadeJust think about what you are saying. 2-300k subscribers, paying their $12.99 (or whatever it is) every month. Ah, to the poster saying he/she had more fun in XI, so did you level dunno how many classes to 50 because you weren't having fun? XI is still running (sort of), why don't you play that? I really don't understand why people can't just respect that not everyone has the same tastes or needs. I personally don't like many things in XIV and hope they get fixed/changed but importing concepts from a relic of teh past is not the way
