Don't get me wrong, I miss the golden age of MMORPG gaming, people who have started MMORPG in the last 8 - 10 years simply do not understand what they missed out on. Even though there were frustrating times, there was more great times then there were bad that's for sure.
I agree. But I also think that part of the problem is that games aren't only easier (they are but it is compounded by this next point) they have become very, very streamlined. There is no outside the box... you can't even get a group together and have and experiment. Everyone just shoots for the tried and true methods which are sadly all that is being presented in todays MMOs.

They missed out on SWG - everything you could possibly want.

I've been saying this since release. There's just nothing challenging to do in the open world. Such a waste.

In my opinion, that is the biggest problem with the game.

If they are going to make FATES prime EXP please at least make them difficult. You shouldn't be able to solo the Big NMs in Outer La Noscea for example. You should go into Coerthas/Mor Dhona and get destroyed. It doesn't need to be difficult everywhere and in all situations. But SOME fear/consequence for getting to brazen.

Over casuals have ruined MMO's. To bad we will never have a company that is willing to stand up to the masses of the interwebz and say NO! Our game is played like this, and if you dont like it, dont buy it! But instead they will continue to bow to the almighty dollar and the masses of interwebz babies who have no idea what MMO's used to be like. Yes you can cry white knighting, or rose colored glasses or nostalgia if you want. But the fact is that most older players are very unhappy with the now now now attitude of games and gamers alike. I would give a lot to have a company make a game that was full of stuff to do, where end game took a while to get to, where progression was slow. But it will never happen now, the precedent is already set. If this game gets any worse/problems are not fixed I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I guess just retire from MMO's altogether and this makes me sad

This will never happen for two reasons those who fund these type of games want a return on investment meaning that even before they start work on the game they have to convince the investors that their vision will make money and two once the game has been made and is running they will want to continue making money and will gear the game toward to the largest money source which is currently casual gamers.
Right or wrong that is the industry.

Let's not make this about "casuals" and "hardcore". Those terms are pointless, the game can be great and not be about the grind. Just because something takes longer doesn't make it hardcore and just because something can be done in an hour or two doesn't make it casual. The fact is people want a quality game and not another copy of a certain MMO. They, me included, don't want a hub world where you only spam dungeons to get gear and repeat the process once new content gets released. We want more depth and a quality game.
