What 1 person hates, another person likes. You change something for one person, it pisses off another. In the end, will it fix what some people are complaining about? I can't say honestly :0.

Well. You pretty much described the whole ARR experiment right there.
That aside, I don't think adding more wild areas with tougher monsters would be changing much of anything. Maybe a little balance reworking but outside of that I think it would be an exciting thing to bring over.

the problem is, this game has been remade for people who don't really have time to play games, casuals.
just hop on your chocobo, or use teleport and you can be anywhere in the world in less than 5 mins. Seeing no danger from one end of the world to the other.
everyone with the same gear at endgame, like clones of each other. FFXIV: The Clone Wars
i had more fun just trying to get to Jueno, or Cape Terrigan, or finding my way through Castle Oztroja.
how do we build great memories in XIV when there is nothing to strive for, nothing to lose, no sense of adventure.
Sure there was drama over HNMs and such, but at least there was something to actually fight over.
things that made the world feel alive, like having to use sneak and invisible to get through the world safely.
i like alot about this game, i have been a XIV player since 1.0, and a XI player since its launch as well, but this relaunch of XIV feels watered down in some aspects.
Dakkon - Shiva - FFXI
Dakkon Briefs - Excalibur - FFXIV
HoCD - Vindicated - Chocobo Knights
This. I played FFXI when I was in college and had hours of free time. These days I have 2, maybe 3 hours a day. I don't want to waste time traveling. I don't want to waste time LFG. I want to DO stuff, and if FFXIV's mechanics can help, it's a great game. There are thousands of Korean grindfests out there, go play those.
You have fates, instanced dungeons and of course guild leves as well as GC leve, believe you have more than enought to do. Infact with all that the casuals have plenty to do. Why do you want everyone else to suffer because you feel entitled? This. I played FFXI when I was in college and had hours of free time. These days I have 2, maybe 3 hours a day. that would be fine, except those same people complain that there is nothing to do, but when someone suggests adding something to the game that takes time, they want no parts of it because they dont have time!! just send the highest level gear to their moogle delivery person so they dont have to do anything, let them quit and then the real game can start.
Making the game for people with a couple hours a week to play is the cause of the biggest complaints in the game, mostly from the same people who want it this way.
There isnt anything to do, things take time, people dont want that.
Why do myths have caps? because its for people who play for 2 hours, people who play for 6 hours will finish everything in a week and quit, this artificial walls.
make the world bigger, with more things to do and see... nope, no one wants to spend time.
This game could literally remove the open world aspect, make it a lobby/game system like phantasy star online and absolutely nothing would change.
oh wait, we have a dungeon finder board coming.. sounds like we are headed in that direction

Let me sum this up.
Angry fans log in and are upset by lack of content. They play anyway.
Angry fans are logged out, log in forums to complain about lack of content/game is dying/game lost magic/Omg just post in one thread instead of creating your own to feel special and force others to engage you directly.
Angry fans proceed to log back in and play the game anyway.
Here's a solution, don't.
