On the map, guilds are generally labelled by their proper name with the guild type in parentheses. For instance, Mealvaan's Gate (Arcanists' Guild). A lot of the guilds are missing their names, though, and in some cases it's pretty inconsistent.
- The Oak Atrium is simply labeled "Carptenters' Guild"
- The Greatloam Growery is mapped to be separate from the guild, as in the area for the plants themselves.
- Atelier Fen-Yll is simply labeled "Leatherworkers' Guild"
- Amajina & Sons' Mineral Concern is simply labeled "Miners' Guild"
- Eshtaime's Lapidaries is simply labeled "Goldsmiths' Guild"
- Sunsilk Tapestries is simply labeled "Weavers' Guild"
This is doubly confusing; Eshtaime's has a guild (Lapidaries) and a shop (Aesthetics). Sunsilk also has a shop in the Steps of Thal, but the shop is labeled with the Guild's name and has replaced the old Bric-a-Brac knickknacks shop.A lot of these places are still in business under their old names, are they not? Guildmasters have changed in some cases, but it's the same place. I can see where labeling the destinations in the Aethernet by guild type would be easier, as remembering the shop names can be a pain - but as far as the map goes, it should have the proper names, no? This inconsistency seems to stem from the map itself, which has neglected the proper names in Eorzean text, and as a result, the English text of the UI has followed suit.
- Frondale's Phrontistery is simply labeled "Alchemists' Guild
If this is ever addressed, it wouldn't hurt to keep the aethernet labels consistent, as well. As a player, I think it'd be most convenient if the map itself had the PROPER NAME (GUILD TYPE) format and the aethernet just had location type - trying to remember which gates go to which zones is as annoying as it would be to remember every job's guild by its proper name. Or maybe just make the aethernet window bigger and slap all the info in there, I don't know. I'm just rambling. Still, as it is now, it's a hodgepodge on both the map and in the aethernet window.
