It just depends on how glass half empty person you are.

You could say Super Mario Bros was frankly handing you endgame right at the start because in mere seconds you could grab a mushroom followed by a fire flower. So why play the rest of Super Mario when you had gotten it all in a few seconds?

When you find the answer to that question, you may find the answer to as why fast exp in MMOs is not a problem but a bonus.

Yeah, one thing i hated in ffxi is that I couldn't get all the AF's in the game because that would require me to either win the lottery and become a hermit or just stop caring about life at all. Now I can live my life and play this game without feeling left out. WIN

I have a couple friends who have only just hit level 40 since l aunch. For every hyper power level there is also someone taking their time.

In final Fantasy XIV, your character progression doesn't stop at reaching Lvl 50. Once you hit 50 and finish the main scenario, you're not even done with the game's primary content. In all truth, lvl. 50 isn't really the 'cap', it's simply the point in the game where it shifts gears. So in truth, the game only "power levels" you part way through the leveling process, but certainly not to the true 'cap'.
