Gearing?

So I have not been able to find to much information on gearing I just hit 50 last night, have all my Artifact armor and even a 55 weapon. I was told that I can't even begin to start any of the 50 dungeons until all my gear is ilvl 50. But i can't seem to find a good way to get off pieces such as rings. Also do I really need to end up wearing that ugly black hood robe? :/ lol

Congratz on 50. I hit 50 not too long ago so I think I can help.

As long as your jewelry is "reasonably" upgraded, you have your i55 weapon you'll do just fine in WP. Why are you being told you can't handle WP? Because everyone wants a speed run which requires significantly more gear.

You SHOULD start running Wp after Wp after Wp get Philo gear. The warlock gear that drops from WP is all but worthless with th exception of the hat I believe so sadly you won't really get any gear upgrades from the dungeon itself. Everyone has a different strategy but I decided purchasing the accessories first with my P-Tomes, well belt was actually first then onto accessories. Some people say go for the big ticket items because it's a big ugrade but that wasn't what I personally did.

Also, work on getting HM Ifrit down then start farming Garuda for her weapon. You'll be amazed how much of a difference it'll make!!!!

It's most likely better than your AF, and you can spiritbind it to make materia, and quite possibly profit.

Once you got that, start your relic quest and work your way along it and likewise through the gear tiers. First AK and Ifrit, then getting most of your gear Darklight and Garuda, then Titan and your relic before snagging mythology upgrades and Coil

Just Keep AF spam AK till you can replace with AF and collect Philo to replace AK with DL at same time

Buy all DL accessories while you gear yourself with strategos in AK and then replace the AK gear with DL gear, then work on your relic

Should take about 2-3days max to get full DL (even less if you play alo)

AK and WP are both designed to be done in AF gear, more so WP than AK as WP is designed with i55 gear in mind while AK is i60, so you can see the progression. So many people run AK + WP as their Myth / Phil farm that it shouldn't be an issue completing these. If you don't like to be carried because you'll most likely be the weakest link in the group due to the newness of your 50, I'd recommend running CM if you can and keep getting Philosophy tomes to get DL accessories to help gear you up. I recommend DL accessories first since WP doesn't have any accessories that can drop and AK literally has one chest that consistently drops an accessory but can drop any accessory for any slot (Wrist, Neck, Finger, Ear) for any role (Heals, magic DPS, ranged DPS, melee DPS, tanking). Therefore, the chances of you getting the accessory you want is exceptionally low.

For a weapon, HM Ifrit is designed for AF geared players. Understand the fight, understand Ifrit's attack pattern, and coast to victory to farm up an Ifrit's Cane. The primals have rigid attack patterns and will follow these patterns throughout their combat with no deviation, making Ifrit and easy win once you understand the pattern and the roles of each player in this fight.

Run AK to get i60 gear while using philo tomes to upgrade pieces you don’t have, and run ifrit when you can to get an i60 weapon. WP is better for people who don’t need the gear drops, but if you’re a fresh 50 then AK is better as a single run can get you an upgrade or two. Going into ak with af armor/48 accessories isn’t that big a deal, as healing prior to t4-5 isn’t that gear dependent (first time I healed t1 was with a garuda weapon and only one piece of dl armor, I believe the other sch in my fc did the same thing). At least, that’s my opinion.

Due to the Tonberry Stalker I'd recommend doing AK just because you're not going to be stabbed in the back if you don't go fast enough, or have to sit back and make a coffee while you wait (which is just a pain)

How is that a waste of time? We're basically saying the same thing, except for the ilvl 55 crafted items. And as I mentioned in my post, you can convert them into materia, sell it, and more often than not get more money than you started with.

That makes sense at least, the other question is is there a robe thats higher than BL? The thing is just ugly lol. Granted thats a dumb complaint but eh.

Get the your HQ jewelry - maybe mix tourmaline and turquoise depending on how your mana usage is. I wouldn't bother with i55 crafted stuff for the moment, just to be cheap.

Run AKs or WPs in your AF. If you're not in a bad party you'll be fine. (Though a WP "speed run" might be beyond your output for the moment)
Replace AF with strategos. Buy DL stuff to replace non-strategos stuff first (usually belt is the #1, I think). Then replace strategos stuff.

Once you've got most of your gear try to get through the ifrit/garuda maybe farm garuda for the weapon. Get relic stuff done, titan when you're >3200hp.
