First, be sure to join a party!

Gathering FATEs: Turn in 6 of the item demanded. Go AFK.
Boss FATEs: Hit the boss once (or twice) for good measure. Let your party members do the heavy damage! Go AFK.
Battle/Escort FATEs: Be on at least eight mobs' hate list when they die. Flash works great for this! Then go AFK

Healing? Tanking? Don't be a sucker. Do what I say and get gold every time.

Thanks for this! OMG! I love this guide, now I can AFK through long FATEs and all my partymates will AFK as well.

I used to think I was doing FATES properly but then I read this guide and now I am leveling even faster AND I get to eat Fruity Pebbles while doing it!
