    Don't weapon-lock the Jobs!

    I hope I speak for the majority of the userbase when I make this statement.

    Almost every classic job can and has been seen swinging about a myriad of fighting implements.

    Thieves may very well want to poke you with a knife as planned, but any number of them would be content with backhanding you across the forehead or perforating your hindquarters with any number of projectiles.

    Your noble little Paladin could go the old fashioned route and pick up a gleaming broadsword, but perhaps he wants a nice weighty mace to crack those tougher enemies, perhaps he takes the idea of holy powers a step farther than most and has his sights on a wand. Maybe chivalry never was his thing, and he decides a flintlock pistol will get the job done!

    Even your classic Black Mage might overplay this concept of death and destruction with a pointy, albeit illogically-shaped-for-combat Scythe. In fact, XI's archetype for Black Mages was whirling one about in the air quite maliciously.

    We want our jobs to define our role, but we want to fulfill that role with the implement we see fit. If one tool doesn't perform as well as expected, its up to the user to move onto other options.

    Don't make the jobs glue us to one weapon!

    Relatively related to this topic, I hope that we may see a one handed branch of the spear family. Any number of classic FF games have given individuals the ability to operate a shield and spear, after all.

    Yeah, I have never been keen on the classes being tied to the weapons. I think all classes and jobs need to be managed in a way that we can change the class/job as we do now by clicking on an option to do so, versus having to change weapons.

    I agree, some class' weapons don't really fit with the obvious jobs or the weapon simply isn't in the game yet.
    I could see the job being able to use the class weapon but also having their own unique weapons to choose from.

    I support the unique weapon system. They can introduce new weapon types, like Great Sword for example, and tie it with Gladiator. Now Gladiator has more weapon selection. So on and so forth

    The problem I see with your suggestion is that most classic FF classes use sword over other weapons, and gladiators already has daggers as an additional weapon type.
