I have noticed that a lot of the maintenance recently is starting at 8pm pacific time. For those of us that work full time, that is during the middle of our prime playing time. Please start maintenance after 11pm pacific time.

Agreed.

Again, as always,
The Programmers are physically in Japan.
If they need to start at 8pm then they are starting earlier than normal. This is because dun dun dun......
They think they need more time.
Again, as always,
The maintenance can run later, as opposed to earlier.
Ok.... it can run later....
So instead of starting it at the beginning of their shift, they do it in the middle of their shift....
Programmer> Hey Boss, we're a little worried about the maintenance on Monday. We think there might be a problem.
Boss> Naw, it interferes with West Coast America Players. Do it in the middle of your shift.
The day of the maintenance
Programmer > Boss, I can't get the server back up because I didn't have enough time.
Boss> That's ok, you can have overtime. We'll just take it out of the development budget for the next expansion pack.
????
Really, they work a shift. If they are starting EARLY they think they need more time. Personally I say good for them. Take all the time you need for maintenance.
agree.
feel not happy about this. it starts 8pm it's too early. what about people who can only play during night time?
and the maintenance happens like 2 times a week !!!!
are they going to give us a refund for the time they doing maintenance??
why always do maintenance in NA's prime time ?
this is getting very very annoying.
No matter what time they choose it'll be unfair to someone, all they can really do is to do their best to be equally unfair to everyone, but that's besides the point, they're doing a lot of maintenance at the moment trying to make everything stable for the likes of you or I, it won't go on forever. That's just my opinion anyway. I doubt very much they'll offer you compensation, maybe once it's over they're offer EERYONE compensation for having to be so patient, but I doubt they'd offer it to you as an individual. I mean, who'd do that math? Maybe 4/5 effected days of a month? Is it really worth the £2 (or so) back?
I have no idea why Square has decided to make it abundantly clear that the Japanese Servers take a higher priority to the American and European Servers. Honestly, how the F hard would it be to just do 2 different maintenance runs, 1 for Japanese Servers and 1 for American (EU could go with whatever fits the time better). It is getting ridiculous and quite frankly, it is making me consider stopping playing this for a few months until they stop screwing over everyone who does not live in Japan.
Don't start talking to me about programmers being physically in Japan. Programming these days takes place around the world in a 24 hour cycle. They could easily have the team in a different time zone deploy the code to the servers, like every other large company. The only reason for doing it during the prime playing time of the customer is a lack of thought and consideration.
I understand that they cannot appease everyone, but they do have the ability to at least do it by server region. Why have JP and NA servers (beyond the slight ping diff) anyway if not for this? (I'm sure there are a multitude of reasons, but it seems to me that this would be a primary reason for having regional servers..)
Of course, I wouldn't mind the time choice if it were only once a month instead of twice-a-fricking-week.
