Would this be a bug tech since the description for eye for an eye doesn't designate attach types just whatever attacks the barrier has a chance to have the damage reduced. Other damage reduction buffs like super virus work so why not this debuff.

That implies physical damage.Barrier Effect: 20% chance that when barrier is struck, the striker will deal 10% less damage
As for why super virus works? That is because Virus is an enemy applied debuff. Also it is not a % damage reduction either. It reduces the target's STR, DEX, MND, and INT by 15%, effectively debilitating any and all of its offensive stats.
How does it imply physical? By the word "struck"?
I'm also curious as to why it doesn't work against magical as it doesn't denote a specific type of damage. It just says the barrier needs to be damaged "struck" which you can be "struck" with magical damage and physical damage. So not sure why that is. Just seems odd spec since it has diminishing returns. Just my opinion.

Some nodes don't physically attack your tank, which is why Eye and Virus don't work.

Virus works if done by a scholar or summoner as it lowers str, dex, mind, int stats by 15% unless it counts as unaspected damage which is a possibility, but would still fall under one of the four stats unless there is another stat that we don't know about that the nodes are using.
