BUT WHY!? Cmon guys...

Lightning Returns starts 11/14.
Maintenance is 11/15.
They clearly realize the servers are going to implode and have reserved "emergency maintenance" time.
More maintenance? Oh holy crap guys what the hell? How bad are your systems that you have to routinely run 2-3 maintenance periods a week? Honestly, I work in IT, I have done for decades and I've never seen any system with maintenance outages this frequent unless the system in question was already lurching it's way from one crisis to another towards a spectacular death.
These maintenance outages are getting to the point where it's just a joke. Some bright spark will no doubt quote the ToS at me and say I agreed to it. Yeah, whatever kids, the problem here is not that there is maintenance, maintenance is a given, but not 2, 3 or 4 times a week. Regular maintenance on most any IT system I work with professionally is once a month at most. I've only ever seen maintenance as often as once a week on a system with a fairly nasty memory leak. But 2, 3 or 4 times a week? That adds up to between 8 and 16 maintenance periods a month and between 96 and 180 outages a year. I challenge any professional in IT to defend bringing a system down that often for "maintenance" - you can't.
Um, no, it's patently obvious that the update was in 2.05 since that was the last game update. The maintenance scheduled starts after the Lightning event, therefore, logically, the 2.05 client includes the material needed for the lightning event.

Iono, even if this was for the Lightning event... (which it's not) requiring server maint. to implement an event is ridiculous by today's standards. Luckily this doesn't fall onto one of my FC's raid periods, but these last two with uber minimal warning Monday server maint's have seriously killed a lot of Coil time. Give me a reason not to hate them SE, tell me wtf you're doing, so I can not hate them. Because quite frankly, after every server maint. I've seen 0 improvements - maybe they're there and I just haven't noticed them, but dammit tell me SOMETHING!!!

Gonna be asleep when it happens so I really don't care.
In before the maintenance defenders start quoting the one true book, the gospel that is the ToS.
You all signed up for being able to play 15 of 30 days a month, didn't you see that on page 6?
Normally I really don't complain about maintenance times. But, it all just falls during a bad time for me. I can't play until either my daughter is asleep, or I am off work. These happen at 8 P.M. or 9 P.M. PST, respectively. So when the maintenance lasts 9 P.M. - 2 A.M. it basically shuts me down for that entire night of playing. And even 9-11 cuts in really heavily, as I generally wake up early to a three-year-old alarm clock. It's not necessarily a deal-breaker, it's just irritating. It'd be nice if maybe they cycled the maintenance times once in a while so I don't always feel like my prime time is being taken away. I understand the ToS, and acknowledge they completely reserve the right to do so. But I also feel I reserve the right to voice a complaint when I am prevented from playing for, literally, entire evenings.
Ermahgerd maint!
We usually get to know what the maint was for after it's done. Most MMO's only tell you what was fixed or patched after they are done doing it. The last maints mainly dealt with the Market fraud which caused unscheduled maintenance. I'm thinking this maint is the proper scheduled one that would have happened regardless.
