I more or less agree. The conversation had long ago stopped being an intellectual debate about soloing, and has turned into something ugly (which, apparently, the mods have had to step in multiple times) and needs to be laid to rest. Each "side" has made its points, pushed the merits of their view, and discussed why the other view is not for them. There really isn't much more to say without rehashing what has already been posted in this topic.
If you have the patience to level to 50 off of cobs and dobs, go for it man, and may God be with you.
you made it ugly by continueously getting defensive over group content. And why can't you solo group content. People did infact talk why intentgently. You can only speak for yourself. Just because you solo and you communicate with people don't mean ALL soloist do. Inoder to have an intelegent debate one must not sit on the floor with finger in their ears.I more or less agree. It was repeated why content should be either or, and both how and why there are different types of mmo out there. You picked both ffxi and this mmo. Which are grp mmo.
No one cares if solo'er solo. There will be solo content. But there also should be content for those who want to group, And the reason for the seperation was stated meany times. You kept poking at people who have "incorrect" concept of mmorpg. And feel people are saying "they are right and your wrong". You got defensive over simple questions of why do solo'ers play mmo. Again do not talk for other soloer's as a good percent of us had bad experienaces with some soloers, do we blame them all? no. And a question is simple the first time. If we did infact twist your stance maybe you should look on how you type. To us you can seem like your just puffing out your chest, and only want us to say "your right, and we do understand" Since you seem or appear defensive. and do not accept our side as "intelligent conversation".

No offense, but the bolded above is 'exactly' what you're doing by insisting that MMO = grouping. It's a genre of gaming, to be played in whatever way the player chooses and the Devs allow. The simple nature of being an MMO does not state that one must be expected to participate in a combat group in order to play the game.you made it ugly by continueously getting defensive over group content. There 'might' be bits of content, such as instanced dungeons, that do require a team when first released, only because the player character is, at that point, usually incapable of becoming strong enough to solo them. Which makes the concept entirely about the numbers behind combat.
I get that you don't see it that way... but that's your opinion, not a fact.

Thats not true dude either. It was stated a while ago that there are various mmo. I infact stated this. There are group based mmo. solo centric mmo. And social mmo. ffxi was considered group based and ffxiv will prob have mostly group content but with slightly more solo content then ffxi had.No offense, but the bolded above is 'exactly' what you're doing by insisting that MMO = grouping. Also IF an mmo wasn't about grouping, then why can 100-5K players play on the same server simulatinously (sp) ? And why do devs when talking about their mmo games always talk about grouping? Even Bioware stated this.I watched a thing on my 360 about star wars tor. And the devs talked about logging on meeting new people, making friends and exploring and going content with them. Why do devs present mmo in a grouping fasion, if they are not meant to group? And why does most end game content even on most solo centric mmo, are about grouping?
These are simple questionsYou can pick and choose which content you do and do not do. But untill someone dous so, no mmo will truely ever be 100% solo. The reason: what would the point be of so many people playing and chatting? Again an innosent outlook.

MMOs have, since their creation, been presented as group based games. If a soloer was able to just solo all the content, noone would bother doing it with a group since soloing is more efficient. Content was drawn up by the developers with groups in mind, and it has been presented with groups in mind. There is no way around this. MMOs are co op based games and FFXIV happens to have more solo content then most. Like what was said, there are many more solo friendlier mmos out there and they are geared toward your play style, however i a actually dislike the soloability of this game as it is and i was a huge fan of XI and other mmos. I lover the party dynamics and thats what the majority of players who get in to the genre enjoy as well. Unfortunately for soloists in this genre they did indeed pick the wrong genre, If you want to play solo and do all the solo content thats great. You dont need the rewards from the group content since those rewards help you in further group content. FFXIV is already close to a real good balance and the day mmos become 100% only is the day I and all other like minded people leave the genre. MMOs were created for rpg fans to work together, single player games were the inspiration and people were like wow i wish other people were playing this characters in my party and fighting these battles with me. So im sorry if any of this is not what you think, however MMOs like this hopefully will remain group centric, as there are solo centric ones you could be playing.

I argue two points with this. The first is that MMORPG's are just graphical evolutions of MUDs which have almost exclusively been without party mechanics. In fact in my many years of playing MUDs (and creating them), I never encountered one that even allowed you to form a party (I am sure they exist, in the many thousands of MUDs available, both pre and post 'advent of MMORPG' there are bound to be exceptions)
The second is almost a reiteration of the first and it is that games are always undergoing and evolution, systems change, target audiences change, technology changes, and there is no reason why any game should be held back simply because "Its what they started as." (And just in case there is any confusion, this is NOT a request for FFXIV to change any content, just a point of view on gaming technologies in general)
