What does play style have to do with the fact other classes get to use their upgrades straight away while others have to wait for 2 upgrades for it to even FEEL like an upgrade. If and upgrade just puts you on par with what you had before, it's not an upgrade, it's not a play style, it's not a choice. We're pigeon holed into holding out for 2 pieces to feel the upgrade of 1 for >4< of our slots, it's just shitty design all around. You know its really down to your play style really, I have Head WAR AF2 & Bravura+1, I am not wanting to try and atempt AK to get the body anymore as I have seen 4 & I was over lotted.
It all depend on you and if you can wait some more time with DL, I does not bother me personaly. But knowing the ToM restriction I really think no one can blame you if you choose to not try to get a Ilv60 piece for the sake of 2 weeks. If someone does just ignore it.
TL;DR
An upgrade should feel like an upgrade not a savings bond.
Actually 2. Dark Light pants & boots are fused as well as chest & helmet being fused. And if you opt for craftable Dark Steel design its the same deal. What does play style have to do with the fact other classes get to use their upgrades straight away while others have to wait for 2 upgrades for it to even FEEL like an upgrade. Vanity slot can't come soon enough for me. The only lvl 50 chest piece I've found that looks decent on my character is the AK one.
The real question is why doesnt every job has their OWN darklight set? Warrior/Paladin should both look completely different. I know SE design team is much more creative than this. Come on stop being lazy.
I wouldn't mind if Heavy Darksteel craftable armors were non joint armors.. but seriously... Both of them are joint for Head + Chest and Legs + Boots. I was stuck so long with a Hoplite Circlet and am still stuck now with a Hoplite Boots cause there is no separate pieces be it from tomes or crafted!
That's why I specifically said >4< slots (2 for the head+chest 2 for the legs+feet).Actually 2. Dark Light pants & boots are fused as well as chest & helmet being fused. And if you opt for craftable Dark Steel design its the same deal.

Any time we get an upgrade for either the Head, Chest, Leg, Feet, (4 slots total) we have to wait for it's matching piece to feel the full effect of the initial upgrade unlike almost everyone else.
Who ever thought it was a 'cool' idea to have items that take up multiple slots was a completely short-sighted fool.

Not actually true. At least, not always. I always have refused to use the DL body piece because I'm too pretty to wear a trash can over my head. So I've stuck with the Hoplite Tabard this entire time, but made sure that the Valor Coronet was one of the very first lv90 upgrades I did. If you look at the stats of both head and body for DL (it may be one piece, but look at them as being added together for the sake of argument) and consider that it's lv70, upgrading one half to lv90 and the other half downgrading to lv60 will still give you a stat boost. Just not much of one. And your gear average between the two is lv75.
Ahh, the sacrifices we make for the sake of vanity. I know my Coil team healers are hoping to god I get the Allagan body drop on Turn 1 either next week or the week after so Turn 4 can be more of a "ouch that hurts" during phase 6 instead of "OMG OMG IT BURNS OH THE HUMANITY". Because I still have another 2 weeks of myth farming to go before I have enough for the AF2 piece. And, of course, I'm sure that if I do end up just buying the AF2 piece outright, the Allagan body piece will drop in Turn 1 the very next opportunity...
Well its not an AF(+1) either as it was not phisicaly augmented by any mean.
If you have an elitist play style and you want everything now then its a problem. What does play style have to do with the fact other classes get to use their upgrades straight away while others have to wait for 2 upgrades for it to even FEEL like an upgrade. If you have a relax play style and you don't mind waiting then its not a problem.
Casual/relax play style <-> Elitist/QQ play style. So yes its more or less a question of play style, I never follow the crew so I care less. Waiting 2 weeks for a new piece of gear is not that much of a problem. We have been waiting for month for an AF2 to drop in Dynamis @ FFXI back in the time.

Having seen all Live Letters, reading all Letters of the Prod., reading basically all Interviews I must have missed exactly that little info, that AF2 is supposed to be a different armor coming in the future...
Links please. Otherwise I will refer to Myth gear as AF2 til proven otherwise, cause that's how it was called in XI and it even had the exact same names...(AF1 for PLD was called Gallant ... and AF2 was called Valor... in XI, same for Fighters and Warriors AF and Wizards/Sorcerers etc etc etc...)
