Something people don't realize about the 'Tin-can' line of armors is that in 1.0 they used to be extremely rare. I'm pretty sure there were NONE leveling up, but correct me when I'm wrong.

Darklight used to be the final piece of gear for tanks - And it was difficult to obtain because of droprates. Heavy darksteel was also in the game at the time, and it had much of the same use as it does in 2.0. Not as good as darklight, but good if you could get melds on it. I think.

So it was actually pretty cool to end up in armor that made you look like a tank. I understand some people don't like it, but I think there's nothing more awesome than an Axe-wielding darklight user. Not so cool on Paladins, but on Warriors it just looks awesome.

I liked my lvl 25 tin can for about 5secs. Then I noticed how ridiculous I looked and that I couldn't turn off the helm. Not even a /visor. The tin can can go away and I'd be happy. I just with there was a more WAR styled tank armor. All the 'cool' tank armors are PLD looking. Very Knight like. I loved Cavalier in Brayflox, but it made my WAR look like a PLD to everyone. No idea how they'd make that kind of armor look, but something even slightly distinct would be cool asides from our AF/Myth gear.

Again, I understand the reference, and yes the armor does look like tank armor. However I think it could have been done differently to make it more fantasy oriented instead of realistic.

The good news is that the Crystal Tower armor will make DL armor obsolete and we won't have to wear any tin can armor anymore.

It's total bullshit and they knows it, but it's a leftover from 1.0 and these guys are ridiculously lazy when it comes to armor variety. Look at all the palette swaps in this game. Every level range has that one armor set, and some random greens tossed about. There's like no choice in this game. One of the most linear gear progressions I've ever seen in an mmo, statistically and thematically.

Perfect example. One set in the level range. One. "Oh it's a tank set so bam, done." They want Paladins and Warriors to get it. It's the clear best set for that range, and thematically Warriors are given NO choice to not look like a Paladin in the set. It's freaking derp. At least let us dye the damn things.

You know, you bring a valid point. I had not thought of that till now. It is also rather mono-tone, so it would make sense that it should be dye-able. The structure though in itself looks rather cool, and the axe that you can get to go with it looks cool and does help to get the appearance to look less paladin like.

Again still. The coloring is so simple they should allow you to dye it. I see good things in the future, especially with the vanity slots coming, eventually.

Im confused by these "let us dye it" comments... doesn't the crafted set look almost identical, and it is totally dyable. I have seen yellow and pink, to name two recent colors. And stat wise the crafted is just as good if not better than the DL set.

In any case all this doesn't really matter, since we will be getting vanity melding or whatever they are going to call it, very soon (I am guessing 2.2). Then you will be able to look however you want.

Also, it is just a heavy armor look, like knights from the medieval times. It isn't a "palidan" or a "warrior" look, it is a "tank" look. If you think it looks like a PLD then you are sorely mistaken... Cause none of the PLD in the game look even remotely close to that.

It is the same with casters and healers. The cowl the casters get are just plain robes... it is a "caster" look. SMN has a very special unique look to it, and the AF BLM look is probably as close to the old 2D BLM looks we have had since forever. Neither of those compare really to the caster cowl.

yeah that's fine, but ffs please allow us to craft ilvl 70 armor for tanks that Isn't head/body or legs/feet in one, transitioning to ilvl 90 gear is horrid for tanks, as they are the only jobs without separate head or feet
