I did the same ^Not actually true. At least, not always. I always have refused to use the DL body piece because I'm too pretty to wear a trash can over my head. So I've stuck with the Hoplite Tabard this entire time, but made sure that the Valor Coronet was one of the very first lv90 upgrades I did. If you look at the stats of both head and body for DL (it may be one piece, but look at them as being added together for the sake of argument) and consider that it's lv70, upgrading one half to lv90 and the other half downgrading to lv60 will still give you a stat boost. Just not much of one. And your gear average between the two is lv75.

I can not help but LOL at this statement, you have no idea they are separate, and it's content that won't be released for at least a month, by that time my coil group will most likely be full ilevel 90, and we are pretty casual. It doesn't matter to me anymore I have the Myth helm, but for those tanks that are up and coming, farming the 1320 Philo to get the Chest/Helm combo only to get the Allagan chest (because turn 1 is very pugable) and realize your only real option is to drop back to Hoplite the ilevel 60 green pretty much stinks.
You don't like the armor I am fine with that, voice that they shouldn't do this again, and/or give better options so you have the choice.
At this point though, asking them to remove/change this is beyond ridiculous. I would rather see them implement appearance slots over wasting any time on old already outdated armor. If they did appearance slots, then those that really like the look (and there are people like that out there, I am not a fan of it, but I don't *hate* it...) would CHOOSE to show it, and everyone else would just look how they wanted to.
And to those asking why the made the *best* gear in the game like this, why am I stuck with this? Go run coil... Like, you can easily get into a pug group and clear turn 1 and 2 now. There is no reason you can't get an AF chest (which looks really cool) or dare I say, save up your myth tomes and get the AF2 chest which for PLD looks incredibly bad ass (I also like the WAR one too... just saying). It is far from the "best" set... and soon it will pale even more with the release of CT... there will be at a minimum of three pieces of gear better than this crappy chest.
Finally the complaint about the tome costs... it is the SAME price... Learn 2 Math... Chest + Helm = Chest/Helm... does it take you a couple extra runs before you get to actually make the upgrade? yes, does it matter? nope. Because all that content is completely faceroll by that point (or should be, since your chest/helm should be the last upgrade from AF, since the AF chest is REALLY good compared to your other crappy gear slots).
You and your guild will yes... But new people starting out will likely go practically straight fresh 50 into CT without getting hardly any gear upgrades. why do 14 CM runs (or whatever else), when you can just go right into CT with minimal gear upgrades. The only reason Full DL is practically mandatory (it isn't mandatory... but at this point if you are serious about coil, you might as well make it mandatory, weeds out the dedicated from the not...) is because of the noticeable gear gap. You know... iLvl 80... not there... when it is there, why would you kill yourself getting 70 pieces, just to have them all replaced in 2 seconds on a CT run?I can not help but LOL at this statement, you have no idea they are separate, and it's content that won't be released for at least a month, by that time my coil group will most likely be full ilevel 90, and we are pretty casual.
And regarding the separation... I believe... could be wrong, but I believe they have shown the gear, it has been datamined, or something like that since all that stuff has actually been in the game files for a while. Just like how everyone knows what all the weapons will look like for Good King Mog.

That was true for 1.0 only, by 1.1 that mentality was out the window. We are now in 2.0, a completely new vision for the game based on what people asked for. So your comment = not true in the slightest, so far away from true that true looks like a little dot in the distance.
Here is the link to the Developer's Blog showing a picture of dragoon AF2 armor at the bottom of the page. It is the only image that is non-housing related. http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/pr/blog/000532.html There is your answer.

People have been complaining about Dungeon music not playing aside from that small tune at the intro. Now they are doing something about it.

Honestly, my biggest issue with this is that, once i get my myth chest piece, i wont have a DL head piece to go with it (thus my net gain of obtaining an item that took me three weeks to obtain will be very small)
I purposely stayed in my Hoplite gear until I had the tomes for my valor upgrade... DL is just too damn hideous, especially on elezen.

"Well, it's no Vana'diel, but it'll have to do..."
then why release concept art displaying helmet-less tin cans? it confuses me deeply....
i hope ilvl80 gear isn't tin-can esque, too bad i'll be pretty much full ilvl90 armor wise (bar belt) by the time 2.1 rolls out.
