    Caster targeting advice needed (ps3)

I'm just staring Thm, and struggling with targeting (ps3). I'm looking for advice on how to improve, so I'm not terrible in dungeons. I'm also hoping that any changes I make translate to healing.

My main job is going to be Whm, so obviously I'm mainly focused on healing. But, I also dps, mostly using <tt> macros. I use repose... but generally have time to clumsily find the target BEFORE the pull - not so good at re-applying. I'm hoping to be effective as Thm, and carry over some of what I learn to Whm.

    Hi,

If camera is facing the group of enemies I want to target I use either :

    - Hold R2 then cycle with L1
    or
    - Hold L2 then cycle with R1

It cycles only enemies you can see and has the advantage of already having your crossbar ready for the skill you want to use.

As healer I do use the <tt> macros too.

I have set my filters to other things than enemies for the <= & => arrows.
It s easier to use items on field when needed, or to heal outside group.

As side note repose before the pull will get you the aggro. Sleep them after tank pulled and don't bother if BLM in group

go into options and untick the filters that don't apply to the job

then <- -> work fine, so long as you're nifty with the right-analogue camera

    Thanks for the responses!

For repose, I just meant I find the target before the pull.

If I untick the filters that don't apply to the job, then change jobs, I'll need to change the filters won't I? I'm hoping to find one set-up that works for both... Really as Whm, I'm going to be DPSing... I guess I'm not real sure what filters apply to what jobs anyway.

Just use the manual filters which are activated by using L1 + Square, X, Triangle, and Circle. They are in the filters menu of your character config. You can customize each of the 4 filters individually so you don't have to micromanage in the config whenever you want to change jobs. You will probably want to disable the auto-filter (the one that switches if your weapon is out or not).

Alternatively, you can just keep the auto-filter on and click the left thumbstick while not targeting anything in order to draw your weapon. This will make the auto-filter change to the "Others" mode where you only target Enemies and NPCs.
